Maybe its time we found an alternate name for Pennarin's title, Doppelganger Eradicator. Others have:
Ogre Doom / Ogre Naught.
Pixie Blight / Sprite Claw.
Doppelganger Eradicator / ..... ?

As names go, by its generality it would cover most types of creatures that change form. Ideas?

I'm trying to come up with something that involves fixing a form so it doesn't shift. So far the results have been pretty lame. Doppleganger embalmer and doppleganger stiffener :D Keep at it!

The obvious fit for Pennarin specifically would be the "centaur crusher" since that's the alternate name that wasn't identified in the same source where the term Pennarin appeared.

Sounds painful, but if you mutilate a metamorph, isn't that kind of like ploughing the sea, or lopping the air in half?

Dunno. It came about on the boards that one likely race assigned to Pennarin, considering the description of the race in RaFoaDK, could be dopplegangers. So we stuck with that...its far better than centaurs, minotaurs, and other such sedicious anti-athasian concepts ;)

Even though they were called Centaurs? I know this is Dark Sun and so much that is decided on is arbitrary decisions based on what we think is cool and what we think is dumb. I would rather define what a Centaur was and keep with what is mentioned in what is written rather then reinvent and change things.

But in the spirit of the thread, what about:

Pennarin, Shifter Slayer

or

Pennarin, Changeling Killer

Pennarin the ender of the dance (assuming the dopplegangers used something like "the dance of faces" or "the skindance" to describe the ability to transform)

Pennarin the form fixer

Pennarin the doppleganger inquisitor (more than a full scale war, eradicating something as deeciving as dopplegangers was bound to require some sort of investigation)

Pennarin the emaskerator
Pennarin the dropper of masks
Pennarin Maskbreaker (my chioce if you ask)

They weren't called anything. In RaFoaDK one unamed Champion faught the centaurs, and another named Champion (Pennarin) faught an unamed race.

Forgive my ignorance (I've said that twice today...), but did the unnamed Champion fail or succeed? Or is it put forth?

Sorry if asking that makes me look like a moron, but my DS library is in the process of being built.

Sorry, can't recall. It's such a small footnote, its not that important. Someone could have taken note of the page in RaFoaDK and be able to mention it to you though.

I have found out from reliable sources that the before unnamed Champion was called Kalthandrix - who succeeded in wiping out "those who cannot be named" - when he learned of the Betrayal of Rajaat and the rebellion against the First Sorcerer, his anger was such that he swore to continue his war, but now his sights were set upon the extermination of the halflings.

I could answer you from memory, but then Penn would nag me for a page number, so I'd better shut up. :P

Unfortunely he got eaten by a swarm of Dire Fiendish Flying Vampiric Nightmare Beasts who were also members of The Order, before he could even begin his new crusade.:P

Unfortunely he got eaten by a swarm of Dire Fiendish Flying Vampiric Nightmare Beasts who were also members of The Order, before he could even begin his new crusade.:P

The creatures, upon eating him, found themselves with a bad case of stomach cramps (due in part of the hacking and chopping that was being conducted upon their insides) and promptly expired.

Due to his strenght of will and the regenerative powers of the Champion template, he was reborn and began his hunting of the runts, alone and without his army. He has conducted his lone was for thousands of years and is ot returning to the Tablelands, intent upon finishing his task at the place where the Wars had began so long ago...

have you considered using parts of schwarzenegger (or action film) titles e.g. terminator, eraser, crusader, exterminator etc. ? ;)
