#1zombiegleemaxDec 17, 2006 12:50:21 | I'm planning to introduce some Planescape concept in my campaign. PCs are Drows from Menzoberranzan (Forgotten Realms) and we are playing an adaptation of Night Below (a great boxed set three booklet adventure). They meet 4 Tanar'ri, disguised as strikingly beautiful females (1 Marilith, the general, 2 Alu and 1 Succubus). The 4 Tanar'ri are a suicide strike force to kill a Baatezu ambassador in an Aboleth town. PCs are interested in killing the Great Savant of Shaboath, the Aboleth town. So the 2 parties joined their strenght, with the PCs not knowing perfectly the Tanar'ri true nature (they presented simply as "devil" killers, in search for an enemy in the town). Last time I palyed this adventure in august (me and my players live and work in different countries we started a party many years ago as classmates, but job necessity is to travel). With Xmas holydays is coming the time for some more gaming! (Hurray). Now, I'd like to introduce my PCs to Blood War! One of the Alus is flirting with a PC, and after the killing of the Baatezu ambassador I'd like her to ask him to join her in the Blood War, promising him a commanding position (which she could not mantain...). The PC in question is a psionicist, and is astrally traveling... he also meet the Athars in the astral, and being a male "slave" of the Lolth cult of the drows, he liked so much their philosophy. He also asked to join them (ending his existence as a Clueless). And here I have some question: is it possible to travel from astral to Sigil by color pool? Could the PC find a colour pool to Sigil? What kind of link is there in the Athar citadel to and from Sigil? A portal? A gate? A colour pool? A conduit? I would say a portal, but I think to remember that portals do not open in the astral... |

Color pools don't naturally reach into Sigil, which can only be entered or exited using portals. However, any bounded space can serve as a portal to Sigil. A color pool is a bounded space. So yes, it's possible. You'll need a key to use it, though. Without a key, the color pool will lead somewhere other than Sigil. A portal key can be anything, from a diamond to a sneeze. Maybe it's something the PCs already have on them. Sigil's portals also often shift and move and occasionally disappear, too. So it might just be a regular color pool next time they visit. Permanent portals are very rare. I would say a portal, but I think to remember that portals do not open in the astral... Portals work fine in the Astral. The Athar use a portal. Portals are the only way in and out of Sigil. Only the Lady of Pain can create and control these portals, but groups like the Athar can find existing permanent portals and build citadels around them. |
