Recently, I purchased the official Tasslehoff War of the Lance mapset, and it showed some interesting sites on the Ansalon main map: Locations seemingly tied to each god, such as "the Insect Kingdom of Shinare," amongst many others. What are these places? What's in them? Granted, sometimes the name gives you a clue.....but really, I've never seen them described anywhere.

--are they mentioned in some 1e, 2e, or even 3e product that I just don't have? NB

I'd say most would be either old temples he happened to pass by or perhaps odd little hidden holy sites he add a name to that would remind him of something, like the insect kingdom. Alternatively, it may be a place where, say there is a bug people community, (can't remember the names of creatures theres one in MM1 that are large int ants, and one in MM2 which are bees), dedicated as a society to a deity. Or possibly along the lines of a faery glen that people of the old faith visit and still believe in and thus holds a little mystical power.

Many of those sites already appeared on the map of the old (2e) boxed set:

I think they were explored in more details in the following novel:

I am surprised that they did not list the Towers of High Sorcery as being sacred to the Three Cousins.

The divine locations come from the Tales of the Lance Poster map from the original Boxed Set. They are listed under "Lands of the Unknown" with this description: "These mystic sites appear to wander the face of Krynn at will. Either the discoverers are untrustworthy or they unknowingly passed through a portal that lead to one of these sites. DMs may determine [a] chance of discovering one such location."

The only official material that covered some of these sites are the Odyssey of Gilthanas and I think the War of the Lance geography section may touch on a few of them.

Many of them were described unofficially here: http://www.dlnexus.com/fan/rules/15299.aspx

There will be a few more unidentified "White Dot/Holy Site" locations on the pre-cataclysm map coming out in the next Map Pouch as well....
