I was thumbing through the Ravenloft background on "The Rex" and noticed he's originally from Oerth (Knurl to be precise). I'm wondering, are there any other Ravenloft/Greyhawk crossovers?

Easan the Mad, darklord of Vechor (as well as his nemesis, Ahmi Vanjuko the living mechanical golem) comes from Oerth.

IIRC he hailed from the Highfolk/Vesve area and ran afoul of Iuz.

Vecna & Kas are the other two. Both got stuck in the Burning Peaks cluster till Vecna escaped to Sigil and became a lesser god.

The Ravenloft domain of Souagne apparently originated in the Amedio Jungle near Sasserine, according to Dragon #349.

I also wrote this, which connects Ravenloft (unofficially) to the City of the Summer Stars.

WTH! I love what Dungeon has done for GH in recent years but that quote from Dragon is just plain stupid.

While I could - on a good day, mind you - admit that both the terrain, the flora and the weather are a close match (not identical though), the culture is totally different.

So, the black folks from Souragne are Touv and the white folks are Suel, is that it?

Let's get one thing straight. I'll always be thankful to E. Mona for his dedication to bring GH back to life through articles and mods. That said, this new trend of retrofitting anything and everything to GH is starting to bother me a lot. First, the relocation of Mystaran material (Isle of Dread anyone?) and now RL as well?

What's next? Elminster as sole surviving Suel Archmage? Sturm Brightblade as a Knight Protector of the Great Kingdom? Xen'drik as a new continent of Oerth?

For years, we [GH fans] complained that other settings were stealing what made GH unique. Watching GH return the favor now is more than a little disturbing :raincloud

Could you give an example of this retrofitting?

Putting the Isle of Dread on GH. It's an iconic Mystaran (or oD&D if you're old school) module.

Disclaimer: I liked the way they converted it to 3.5 and expanded it. I disliked the fact that they yanked it from Mystara to relocate it on GH.

Please take the co-opt discussion somewhere else. I'm asking strictly for GH / RL cross-overs here.

I'm afraid what's above is all you'll get if you are interested in canon GH-RL crossover.

Azalin, Easan, Kas, and Vecna (& associated creatures) are the only GH "defectors" known. Others exist but they are not official material. With more than half a dozen settings to draw from (at the time), it's not as if RL's authors had to concentrate on GH to populate RL...

I transplanted the original I6 castle and village to a small freehold on the borders of Ket, GM and Veluna. None of the particular personalities, though. Does that count?
