Does anyone remember the name of the feat that allows one to make an attack of opportunity against any enemy that attacks you in melee? And if so, what book is it in?

Sidestep Charge from XPH?

SIDESTEP CHARGE [PSIONIC]
You are skilled at dodging past charging opponents and taking advantage when they miss.
Prerequisite: Dex 13, Dodge.
Benefit: You get a +4 dodge bonus to Armor Class against charge attacks. If a charging opponent fails to make a successful attack against you, you gain an immediate attack of opportunity. This feat does not grant you more attacks of opportunity than you are normally allowed in a round. If you are flat-footed or otherwise denied your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class, you do not gain the benefit of this feat.

If not, its Hold the Line from Complete Warrior.

Those sound almost right, but the feat I remember allowed you to strike back at an enemy every single time they made a melee attack against you. It may have been a class ability, though. And , to make matters more difficult, it may have been from a third-party publisher.....

Sounds busted if it exists. ;)

Definitely. I just wish I could actually find it again...... But what you found is proving very helpful. Thank you, Sysane!

Found something similar on the boards....
From Ashanti's Ultimate Gladiator Class

Retribution (Ex): At 12th level, whenever an enemy attacks one of gladiator's allies, she provokes an attack of opportunity from the gladiator.

I think I'd like to adapt this into a feat, and then make a small chain of feats leading up to the effect I want.

The opportunist class feature for rogues allows an attack of opportunity every time an opponent is struck by an ally. You might want to check the CO boards for AoO builds. If they haven't found a way to manipulate it to the point of abuse (while fun) it probably can't be done or isn't released yet.

What are CO and AoO?

What are CO and AoO?

AoO = attacks of opportunity

CO = Character Optimization Boards

on the CO boards, you can find almost anything you need.

No prob. Word of advice though: a lot of the work on the CO board is theoretical, as in no DM in their right mind will allow it. Pun Pun is a great example. That said, it can be good for inspiration.

The feat is Karmic Strike; I'm not positive which book it's from, but it allows you to take a -4 penalty to armor class (I think) in exchange for getting an attack of opportunity against any opponent that strikes you in melee combat.

Thanks, all! I appreciate the assist! And my PCs will hate the nemesis I'm engineering for them......A warlock that can use Baleful Strike with every attack of opportunity, and now, with Karmic Strike and Double Hit (Miniatures Handbook p25, allows AoO with a weapon in both hands they are sure to suffer greatly....... Again, thanks everyone!:D

I think I'm going to add a feat to the Karmic Strike feat chain that will allow you to make your attack of opportunity even if you foe misses on the attack that provokes it....I'm just trying to decide what to name it.... Righteous Retribution, maybe? Indignant Pimp-Smack?.............. Also, upon further consideration, I like the fact that Karmic Strike makes you drop your AC....makes it more likely that you get to strike back..... Maybe for my new feat, I'll grant a further penalty to AC, to insure the enemy has a greater chance of provoking a response......and compensating for the fact that you'll hit them back regardless.....Seems fair.

And to make matters more grievous for my poor melee-oriented PCs, I'm going to give the aforementioned Warlock a Rogue ally with Opportunist, Double Hit, Karmic Strike, and Sneak Attack of Oportunity! Every time the Rogue gets hit will be answered simultaneously with TWO SNEAK ATTACKS...... Every time the Warlock gets hit, the poor PC will get with two Hideous Blows, AND two Sneak Attacks from the Rogue that's watching his back!

Well - you had best give the enemies Combat Reflexes and a high Dex mod - because I believe that all of these extra OoA are still regulated by only allowing one per round unless you have the CR feat. Now I am working from memory one this, but I think I am correct.

Oh - and my vote would be for the new feat Indignant Pimp-Smack :D
