In Andru's service

A PC of mines just discovered that the ancient scrolls of wisdom he is searching (to bring light upon his grandfather doings) was traded by an old dark elf assassin to a human, named Cozar. This name should be familiar to a SJ player. He was a pirate from the Rock of Bral, and his grandson, Andru Cozar is Prince of Bral now.
I hope the PC will go to Bral and ask around of this "Cozar", to discover that he died long ago (elf live span il longer!). But it will be relatively easy to discover that Cosaz's grandson, Andru, is still alive and owns the scolls as a legacy from his grandfather.
Andru will not ask for money. He will ask for a quest. At the end of the quest, the PC will step in a room full of treasures. He will be able to choose but one single item. It will be hard to choose a single scroll, instead of a 5000 mo ruby or some strange and powerful magic item from some improbable space civilization.
But he will choose the scroll.

I need a quest.

What colud Andru need from the PC?

Lets see:

1) Hunt a specific pirate or pirate group. A few adventures in Skull & Crossbows deal with such a scenario.

2) "Deal" with a pesky relative, such as his (dead/murdered) brother's young son, before he becomes a threat.

3) Retrieve something important from the Scro on Spiral...perhaps one of his agents was carrying documents/magic item/mundane but important item/etc to the Royal House of Spiral and the planet fell before that agent could escape. If the Scro found it, perhaps it could be used against him (blackmail?).

4) Go to a distant planet/sphere to retrieve something exotic, such as spices, artwork, etc. Maybe the Prince has a hanker'n for the SJ equivilant of Thai, but there are no Thai restraunts around ;)

5) Same as 4, but instead get the Prince an exotic pet. A panda bear from Shou, or something even more exotic.

6) "Repossess" some asteroids (such as Grainfields) owned by a noble/merchant house of Bral who owes the Prince money & are way past due on their payments.

7) Slay a particularly nasty dragon (radiant/sunrise/comet/moon), beholder, or neogi captain who has been terrorizing the spacelanes near Bral.

8) Journey to a jungle world to retrieve a specific plant that is famed for its abilities to create fresh air (Bral's atmosphere has been a bit stale lately).

9) Escort a powerful NPC (who has many enemies) or diplomat to/from Bral.

10) Explore a newly discovered flow river/sphere to see if it has any trade potential.

Hope that helps!

I already played Sculls and Crossbows with the same player, other PC but the player will remember the encounters and I don't like it.
I don't want to deal with scro, since the PC is an elf.
I like the idea of a long journey. To retrive spice/panda/air-refreshing-plant. But I fear once he arrives, all will be easy. Maybe the rare plant producing seeds usable as spice, or producing leaves for food of a strange panda breed, or producing a superior air refreshing effect only lives on Chislev (Krinnspace), near the landing facility of a certain black dragon polymorphed in an innocent Shou female... It could be interesting.

My first idea was to trow in the plot Aric Cozar. But... I somewhat feel it is... well, I think I dislike that!

Being an old Mystara fan, I like the idea of exploring a new trade route: is is just like Isle of Dread, an ancient classic of my favoured groundling world.

But... I really falled in love with... escorting a diplomat to Bral!
I like that! I like a lot! It i perfect!
The PC MUST do all the travel, without going in the Astral Plane (he is a Psionicist and his psicoportive powers are starting to allow him to bypass all dangers! But with a diplomat to escort... that's great!
And a long journey with an obnoxious guy and his guards... oh, how I like it!

Who could this diplomat be?
Since we was speacking here about unhuman wars.... the diplomat could be an elf, or a scro.
The PC is a dark elf.. having an elf will be really amousing!
But elves already own a forest on Bral... why should an elf diplomat need an escort from Andru? A man'o war would be beter for the elves...
Andru doesn't want an armed elven ship to be near Bral with an armed scro ship... that's why!

And what does Xenotermitation LTD thinks of elves and scro?

I like it!

I'm starting to detail Prince Vondrimm Ladethshnyn, Admiral of the Spheres, Arrowhead of Corellon, Hawk of the Nightsky, etc, etc...

I just did a little brainstorming there. Figured between 10 ideas, you'd find something you'd like!

LOL...that's the adventure my group, the Jammers, just completed. That and getting our butts handed to us by undead

Then it sounds like from that list, there's at least one idea perfect for your game!

Perhaps, but say they wanted to hold a meeting in utmost secrecy? A battle-rigged MoW (or Mantis) showing up at Bral's docks wouldn't exactly be very secretive, now would it? Actually, a dark elf might be perfect as an escort/guard to either scro or an elf...who'd expect it? By rights, BOTH should hate the dark elf. It has the advantage of being unexpected.

Yes: I like this scenario, and during the travel they will be attacked by:
1) Xenos
2) Rebel elves (or scro?) wanting the unhuman war to continue
3) Scro, just to do some skirmish!
4) The radiant dragon you was suggesting in another adventure idea
5) Pirates! It would be excepptionally nice to meet Pirates of Gith, since the PC already met githianki in the Astral, and hates illithids... :coolcthul
6) And, while losing against a Tyrant Ship, a journeying Aric Cozar will save the day to the PC! ;) It will be hard to (sometime in the future) kill Aric if the generous capitain saved him, hard also for a dark elf! And what when Andru will ask to remove Aric forever?
