The Dragonlance Nexushas launched its very own podcast, the Dragonlance Canticle!

The Canticle is an unofficial fan podcast discussing novels, the role-playing game, the upcoming movie, and the world of Krynn. Featuring news, trivia, e-mail, and the return of the Herald's Report!

Check out episode #0, where we introduce the show, then check out episode #1, our first full-length episode.

Enjoy!

I've done more than that, I've downloaded numbers 0-2 and they make some of the mindless jobs at work positively bearable.
No, I don't want that to be taken the wrong way. I listened to the introduction and that alone hooked me. The way that the music slowly fades, giving the mental clue that the show is to start and then the lone voice intoning "Shirak". It sent shivers up my spine.
The whole program is very professional, the music works to compliment the segments perfectly and I've not found any segment to be superfluous.
I'm eagerly looking forward to my bi-monthly installment of the Podcast.

Excellent work, guys.

I thought it sounded funny, not the intro, the people, not as I imagined them. That is all I am going to say about that, interpretations are open! :P

I do have only one point to make, and it is a minor one. It is very obvious that all the presenters are really passionate about DL and have vast amounts of knowledge and experience on the subject. This enthusiasm translates into fast speech that is kept at this pace for the entire 'cast. After about thirty minutes, it becomes a little overwhelming; and after the hour, I need to take a few minutes to let the information 'settle'. As such, I generally listen to the Canticle in twenty minute bites, to maximise enjoyment.

As I said, a minor point at best. The podcast is well-structured, relevant and very professionally done. I have narrowed my listening down to two podcasts only - and the Canticle is one of them.

Keep up the good work guys.

I have listened to a few of the podcasts and really have not liked them. As much as these people know, they remind me of college professors I have had that want to tell us all that they know and how great they are and then expect us to tell them how great they are.

Nobody’s forcing you to listen, Jason. We’re not doing this to show off. We’re doing this for fun.

I suspect your dislike has little to nothing to do with the podcast itself, and more to deal with sour grapes over being banned from DragonlanceForums.com.

Not at all, Dragonhelm. I could care less about that. I do have a problem with self promotion and aggrandizement, as if the people you deign worthy to participate are the only ones that are fans.

Again, something cannot be said without offense being taken.

The funny thing is Dragohelm, why do you care what I or anyone else thinks?

I have no idea where you’re getting that from.

Here’s my criteria for fandom. Do you enjoy Dragonlance? That’s it. Nothing more. I don’t care if you’re an active fan or a passive one.

Nope, sorry, not going to play.

Again, something cannot be said without offense being taken.

Your post was written in such a way as to elicit an offensive reaction. Again, your opinion is important - "I didn't like them" is valid - but adding in inflammatory comments is what routinely turns a statement of your opinion into an attack, either personally or at the company or organization. Did you expect that comparing the volunteer work of podcasters to college professors you don't like would be taken in any other way? What is the point of bringing that up if not to make a dig at the Canticle presenters?

Cheers,
Cam

FYI, the Dragonlance Nexus is the Official fan site for Dragonlance. There is no problem with Dragonhelm promoting the podcast.

Why do you guys care if I or anyone else likes it or not. Geesh, grow up.

Oh, I don't care if people like it or not- what I DO care about is people being disruptive on the boards by trolling/baiting. And if it happens on every thread posted by Dragonhelm, it could be considered harassment. All against the CoC.

I finally decided to get the podcasts through iTunes and I'm listening to #1 now.

The podcast is well-structured, relevant and very professionally done.

They're definitely taking a cue from Tracy Hickman's Dragonhearth podcasts in their set up and such. It took me several podcasts to get used to this level of professionalism with Tracy and Laura's, and it's probably going to be the same with this one.

Now, there's nothing wrong with professionalism: I'm subscribed to a bunch of podcasts, and most are sports-related, but even the ESPN ones, like PTI and Best of Mike and Mike, are taken from the fact that these guys are tv, so it's just a different professional manner in which the DL Canticle & Dragonhearth podcasts are done.

We have several bits of inspiration, including the Dragonhearth, the Signal, and the Geeklabel podcasts. Not to mention Mike and Evo, who are podcasting gods. ;)

So it means a lot that you guys think it is professional sounding. I appreciate that.
