I've got the 2e Darklords sourcebook. Where can I find subsequent information on Ghastria and Marquis Stezen D'Polarno?

D'Polarno appears in a short story in Tales of Ravenloft. Otherwise, I know of no sourcebook or further mention of him or his domain.

The kargatane Book of Souls had a Marquis Stezen D'Polarno article - his story as told by Baron Camar D'Marosso.

I seem to remember reading (on the kargatane site I think) that James Lowder wrote a scenario based around D'Polarno -- for an RPGA tournament. Does anyone know if it was ever made available (I'm sure it wasn't published, but maybe it was available to RPGA members, or via one of the community boards)? If it was that would be a good source - though I'd guess it probably wasn't.

Anyone any ideas?

Wow, great recall! Jim Lowder did write "The Return of Stezen D'Polarno (Or 'Portrait of the Artist as a Young Necromancer') for a Three-round Grandmaster's Event for GENCON 1992, according to the list previously on the Kargatane's site. I'm not aware of anyone that currently has a copy...

Try the "Unauthorized Biography of Stezen D'Polarno" from the Book of Souls. It's a great article adding lots of detail, ideas and flavour.

In the Ravenloft-L list archives you can find some discussions by the author and Jim Lowder, mentioning the RPGA Tournaments. (Search for "Stezen Ghastria") Yes there were two! The first is a 2 round event titled "Dance of the Dead" which was set on Ghastria and includes some background. The second is the one CatmanJim mentioned.

The Kargatane Catalogue Stezen D'Polarno entry lists the following resources:

Thanks, Frank. I didn't realize White Wolf published anything about Stezen. I'd assumed the line got canned before they could tackled Ghastria.

It did end before they got to that one. The RCS and RLPHB merely mention Ghastria in passing, in their (brief) description of the Sea of Sorrows.

FWIW, we at the FoS plan to compile a netbook on the Sea of Sorrows, which would include Ghastria, after our current one on the Nocturnal Sea is finished. Submissions about that domain or its darklord will be welcome, when the time comes.

And that is the reason i was so interested in your post at canonfire in the first place, Ed.

Just doing some homework, making sure I've got all the published info on Ghastria in one spot.

BTW, you'll get your summary in a few. I'm almost done with it.

And as you might expect, I love anything about Ghastria. I'd be happy to contribute something to the FoS netbook.

The Book of Souls entry is extremely worthwhile.

James Lowder did two shared authoring scenerios I know of for ghastria, Dance of the dead and Protrait of the Artist as a Young Necromancer aka The Return of Stezen D'Polarno. They were ran at their respected conventions and copies were not available to the general public and even RPGA members. Though with the Ravenloft liscense back to WotC, maybe stance soften for the RPGA to accept new ravenloft rpga adventures or release the older ones.
As source besides npcs, mansion maps maybe encounters for the area, the rpga moduals did not have much more then what Darklords supplement offered.
