DL Campaign and Book questions

Hello all I had some questions I was hoping you might be able to help me with.

First questions are things about magic and WoHS. Whats going on with the sorcerers and WoHS? It's my understanding that Sorcerers are considered renegades, then why dosen't the WoHS hunt them down? Why don't the Sorcerers create their own tower or group of sorcerers to rival the Towers?

What happens if someone wants to play something that isn't a mage in DL but still uses spell casting as a major part of it's abilities? Basically I guess what if someone wants to bring in a different prestige class or starting class other than whats provided in the DLCS?

I'm having a hard time figuring out where to place my players for my upcoming DL game. I want to put them in the WotL but not in the HotL's spot. But I'm not exactly sure what else was going on at that point as the Heroes cover most of the important events. I also find that this timeline really encompasses what DL is all about, though the newer stories and such are good they just aren't as good in my opinion. I'm waiting on the WotL book to arrive in the mail hopefully that will give some insight on to various other going on in the timeline but I figure alittle forethought wouldn't hurt.

I also saw the Dark Lance on the Nexus which is pretty cool which might be a possibilty and I also thought about maybe doing a WoS or Post WoS game following the Dark Disciple storyline but needed alittle elaboration that I thought you guys might give me some back on and more than open to hear your thoughts or other ideas.

As of the 2nd book of the Dark Disciple series you find out that Mina "was" a god of light. Now I'm not sure if that means she's no longer a god, or perhaps she's become a goddess of darkness or even if her fate is hers to decide yet. If I ran with this storyline I was thinking that they'd either raise Mina up as the new "queen of darkness" in Takhisis's spot to once again bring discipline to the gods of darknesses side, otherwise more stunts like what Chemosh did would begun being pulled. Paladine would be brought back to the fold or perhaps the gods can't locate him and it could be part of the adventure to find him before the gods of darkness with their new queen at the helm decide to capitalize on their numerical advantage. Ariakan could be brought back to life to unify the Knights of Neraka not so much for another war ( or perhaps so since that's really a part of what DL is about) but because he was an excellent leader for them and would whip them back into shape.

Anyway let me know what you guys think good or bad.

Alright, let's get started.

Wizards vs. Sorcerers.
Yes, wizards would love to remove sorcerers from the face of Krynn, so why don't they? They're outnumbered. During the age of mortals (before the gods return) the ranks of sorcerers swelled, while the wizards dwindled until there were no more. After the gods returned the magic of wizards returned also and eventually the conclave was restored, but it took a crisis to do it. This crisis also destroyed what little wizards were left, in short there were 30 maybe 40 wizards in the whole land of Ansalon (barely enough to constitute the conclave). So the wizards leave the sorcerers alone (fr now) because thet would get their a**es to them.

As far as playing something that has to deal with the arcane arts.
1. Base clases with spellcasting: If it is a class that is more natual rather than learned, then it probably uses chaos magic and therefore renegade. If it is a trained class then it would probably be legal.

2. Bases classes with abilities but not spellcasting: As this are all typically natural abilities rather than learned, probably renegades.

3. Prc classes: As long as the Prc class allows for spell progression every at least every other level then I think (this is just my opinion mind you) they would allow it.

Well that's what I have for now.

Thanks for the insight about the Wizards vs. Sorcerer issue. I hope they come back around to do some kind of story about that. I mean the sorcerers HAVE to know that if the WoHS get back into power they're going to gun for them unless something comes up and there is a cease-fire of sorts.

Yeah I managed to find out he wants to play a warlock from the World of Warcraft d20 game. I haven't seen the specifics but I guess the class entails Damage over Time spells and demon summoning/demon pets and using spells that hurt them to do more damage and things like that. The idea was interesting but I don't think I'd allow it, but no harm in looking at the specifics, since I'm sure he won't forget to bring it up again.

I think that the Wizards would win this war.

Well I am thinking about how the war would turn out. I am developing a timeline for my campaign in the future and believe me there is going to be a period (around 7-12 years) well it is just flat out no-holds barred war between the two. In the end though the three gods will call a cease fire because the war will bleed over in the civilian populace and place the very survival of magic at stake (sorta like just after the the dragons were entombed), and so sorcerers will be tolerated in the same manner that bards are, oh yeah a god will change alignment over the war too.

Solinari will become evil?
Let us know how it goes.

No. This will be where Branchala slides to the neutral. Part of the reason is that Wizards start seeing sorcerers (and warlocks, and dragon shamans, and other chaos tainted magic mortals) everywhere and Bards get caught in the cross fire.
