After seeing two bad bits of news on the same day, I'm damned and determined to lighten things up. I'm planning on running a game online, using the OpenRPG software. It won't start for some time (at least a month), but my intentions are to run WotI, mixed with several different classic modules. Great oportunity for nostalgic players... or people who want their kids to enjoy the same type of games we all (almost) grew up with. I love teaching newbies how to GAME (as opposed to meta-/power-game).

If there's any interest let me know...

You have my interest but it unfortunately has to remain tentative at the moment. Once I get more details on how it will function I'll be able to give a definite answer. Sure sounds fun though.

I'd be VERY interested , the only thing I'd like to know though is how long would the game be on for? A four hour stint on a computer would be a hell of a long time (going on the fact that a typical tabletop session lasts for 4 hours (ish)).
Also the issue of time zones may be a problem.

Here's the details...

This game was originally concieved as a playtest for my Mystara d20 conversion, but I couldn't get enough players to log on on a regular basis. Since my conversion is still in-process, I've decided to wait on playtesting for a while, and just play for the fun of it. The original schedule was 6-10pm eastern time every Thursday, but a new time can be determined for new players.

The rules I've chosen to use--BECMI/RC with the following options:
*Ability Score generation--TBD
*General Skills
*Weapon Mastery
*Saves modified by Ability Scores (RC 266)
*No Common or Alignment Languages, Common will be regionally based (normally Thyatian)
*Darokinian & Glantrian are dialects of Thyatian--not seperate languages
*MU gets "Magescript", Thieves get "Thieves' Cant", and Druids get "Druidic" languages for free.
*All GAZ classes, and many HW classes (Elven Fighter, etc) are available.
*Any d20/3e class/race combinations you want to play, talk to me ahead of time, and I'll see if I can't come up with a suitable GAZ type class option.
*Paladin/Avenger/Druid have the option of starting at 1st level or switching over after 9th.
*L-C alignment axis only--G-E will be assumed (PC's and allies=good, enemies=evil, all others=neutral)

All the above options are subject to change up to start-time without notice... and anytime thereafter with notice.

That's all for now, I'll post more later...

To further the fun to have been had by all, I would like feedback/suggestions as to optional rules to be used... (even if you can't or choose not to play with me, give your suggestions anyway...)

As I said above, this game will be held online at the Digital Elysium server of the OpenRPG software (openrog.com).

This will be a Classic game, but I haven't decided, for certain, which optional rules to use... so I'm going to ask y'all. What rules do you use in your BECMI/RC games?

General Skills?
Weapon Mastery?
Wrestling Rating?
Ability score generation?
Druid/Paladin at 1st Level or no?
If 'yes' above, is 9th-level convert still available?
Include Good-Evil alignment axis?
Attack Ranks or extended Levels for Demi-Humans?
Ability-adjusted Saves or Wisdom-Magic only?
Standard spell table, or spell-points?
Anything I missed? (Gazetteer classes don't count as "missed" as I'm already dead-set that all "new" classes are available, including the Ranger from the vaults.)

What rules do you use in your BECMI/RC games?

General Skills? Yes
Weapon Mastery? Yes
Wrestling Rating? Yes
Ability score generation? Six scores are rolled and distributed to abilities as desired
Druid/Paladin at 1st Level or no? Yes
If 'yes' above, is 9th-level convert still available? Yes
Include Good-Evil alignment axis? No for OD&D
Attack Ranks or extended Levels for Demi-Humans? Attack Ranks
Ability-adjusted Saves or Wisdom-Magic only? Wisdom-Magic only
Standard spell table, or spell-points? Standard
Anything I missed? (Gazetteer classes don't count as "missed" as I'm already dead-set that all "new" classes are available, including the Ranger from the vaults.)

See Above. We also use the rule that all fighters gain the Fighter Options and multiple attacks, not just rulers and the Paladin/Knight/Avenger.

General Skills? Yes
Weapon Mastery? Yes
Wrestling Rating? Yes, but I'm considering using Weapon Mastery instead
Ability score generation? 3d6 x 6, distribute as desired
Druid/Paladin at 1st Level or no? Yes, including Avengers and Druidic Knights
If 'yes' above, is 9th-level convert still available? The option is available at all levels for Paladins, Avengers and Druidic Knights, but only at first level for Druids
Include Good-Evil alignment axis? Implictly, but it's not really needed
Attack Ranks or extended Levels for Demi-Humans? I rarely play beyond level 10
Ability-adjusted Saves or Wisdom-Magic only? Wisdom-Magic only, though I don't have a strong preference
Standard spell table, or spell-points? Standard spell tables
Anything I missed? In addition to GAZ/HW/PC classes, I also use extended options for elves from VotPA, as well as the Bard and Druidic Knight, and all races from that source. Also, I allow specialist priests (WotI), and I'm considering other specialized classes.

I couldn't get enough interested players, so I'm doing 3.5 instead.
Oh well, try again next season...

But please, keep answering the questions--good info to know.
