ERR? I seem to recall somewhere that there was a thread placed by a member that had a map he had drawn / designed of the area around Threshold.
This would be ideal for my current game (if he doesn't mind me pinching it of course) but I can't seem to locate it any longer. Is it likely that old threads that get no replies are "purged" Or did I see it in another forum somewhere?

If a map was posted here, then in all likelyhood it would have ended up somewhere here. The date it was put on the Vaults should be able to help you find the thread where it came from. Hope you find it.

I think this is what you're looking for.

The thread you're looking for is here.

Despite concerns about Pruning the Boards a year or two back, from what I can tell there really hasn't been any of that going on (save for- perhaps- threads that went back further than 2003 or so, but I'd have to double check on that to be certain). You just have to twiddle with the controls at the bottom of the page to adjust the range of threads (the default is within the past month, and dig around.

Alternatively, a good way to check is to try and find the closest related material archived on the Vaults, find the date it was posted, then dig around here. Helps narrow it down.
