#1agathoklesApr 21, 2007 12:22:28 | Just for reference, here is a list of the Rakasta breeds detailed in Dragon Magazine, with are of diffusion and the most likely RW feline counterpart. |
#2HuginApr 21, 2007 12:51:49 | I don't know a lot about Rakastas (or Lupins for that matter) so I was wondering , what are the basic differences between Ancestor, Greater, Wild, and Domestic Rakastas? I'm making a real effort to giving these races a greater presence IMCs. I've only really just said they exist IMCs but I what them involved now and then. Thanks. |
#3agathoklesApr 21, 2007 13:18:18 | Also, while I'm at it, let's go through the Lupin breeds. Lupin breeds are often obvious, but there are a few really hard to pin down to a RW dog breed, so here is my attempt. |

I guess it's basically the same that's for the real felines, like domestic cats and great cats ;) |

The Ancestors were the original breeds created by Ka. They are primitive hunters, and are extinct in the outer world. Their direct descendants are the Simbasta and Sherkasta, while other Greater breeds are derived from hybridization between the two, most likely. All Greater and Ancestor Rakasta share a powerful Roar attack (with a few exceptions), and are modeled on the great cats of RW. Wild Rakasta are modeled on wild cats (smaller wild felines), and are generally descended from the Greater breeds. Domestic Rakasta are civilized versions of the Wild Rakasta, and are modeled on the domestic cats. Wild and Domestic Rakasta cannot use the roaring attack, and are generally more dexterous, while the Greater and Ancestor Rakasta are very strong, but generally not as agile. However, the original articles from Dragon Magazine are definitely needed to get an idea of Rakasta and Lupin breeds and presence in Mystara, as every breed has its own history, powers and character, and most are linked to specific regions. |
#6wilhelm_Apr 21, 2007 13:35:20 | Giampaolo, and what about rakastas in Myoshima? |
#7wilhelm_Apr 21, 2007 13:37:53 | Actually, ignore it, we already have a topic just for that :embarrass |
#8havardApr 21, 2007 19:29:35 | Thanks for posting this Giampaolo. Just what I needed! Havard |
#9havardApr 22, 2007 11:48:33 | It would be interesting to see a geographic column for the Lupins as well, although some are obvious for their names ofcourse. Also, any thoughts on where in the Hollow World, the HW Rakasta breeds can be found? Havard |
#10agathoklesApr 22, 2007 12:01:04 | Also, any thoughts on where in the Hollow World, the HW Rakasta breeds can be found? Rakastodon would probably be found in tropical jungles, while Cave Rakasta could range from subarctic to tropical arid climates -- given that RW Cave Lions were found in Europe and Africa. GP |

Note that there are several hypotetical placements -- especially the Renardy ones are often based only on the fact that the RW breed is of French origin, or that there is no useful information to make a better decision. #12havardApr 22, 2007 14:21:26 | Thanks! This is going to make it all alot easier Havard |
#13HuginApr 22, 2007 15:23:07 | Thanks, GP. This will make things much easier for me. (edit: I just realized I said the say thing as Havard; I guess that means it really makes things easier! ) |
