I was wondering if anyone has updated Ebonbane's sword stats to 3.x edition. I have the 2nd edition module Bane of the Shadowborn with the basic info, but was wondering if there was any other information on the sword, the adventure, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Ebonbane's full 2E stats are in the Darklords accessory. I haven't quite finished converting the little bastard yet, but here's a quick run-down of its abilities:

  • Functions as a +5 vorpal flaming burst longsword
  • Attempts to dominate anyone who touches it. If successful, the wielder dies and becomes a zombie-esque critter under Ebonbane's control (Ebonbane typically uses the "body" to wield its sword form).
  • Can animate and control bladed weapons
  • Can cast one of each symbol spell once per day.
  • Can control the weather and apparent time of day around Shadowborn Manor at will.

I haven't gotten around to the nuts and bolts of mental ability scores, ego score, etc. yet. I'm AFB right now but I'm pretty sure the above list describes all of its abilities, so this should help you get jump-started on stat generation. I think it can also move of its own power, but I'm not sure. In any event, being unable to move under its own power would fit in very well with its curse.

Thanks, thats pretty much what I converted myself. It does say in the module that he can levitate himself and attack by himself, but that WAS back when his 'physical form' wasn't destroyed by those pesky adventurers.

Just out of curiousity, have you read the Ravenloft novel Shadowborn? I think you'd find it interesting and it might give you some ideas on what a final conflict with Ebonbane might entail.

No, I haven't. I'll see if I can get my hands on it.
