So if Athas is so distant from planar cosmology how did Dregoth travel the infinate planes of existance and return im sure theres an answer somewhere is just havent read it. Also, would it be possiable for PC's to follow a similar path.

In short.

He used an artifact called the Planar Gate. Its a mirror that allows him to freely travel the planes.

If I were Dregoth I'd move to a brand new plane with lots of nice green pastures and no godlike sorcerers who don't like me, along with all my dray and New Giustenal's treasures.

Good idea. There are plenty of places Dregoth and his Dray could relocate. Dregoth himself is enough to defend any territories they may acquire on Oerth, Toril, or other places. However, people (including undead sorcerer kings) can be odd, and some do not want to leave their homes.

Dregoth is seeking to become something that Athas has never seen before. That being a real god. Why would he relocate to a place that might already have deities?

Additionally, part of Dregoth's motivations is revenge. He can't achieve that if he flees Athas to another plane.

I used him as a recurring NPC in non-Dark Sun campaigns. Basically a wizened, if frightening old man who would send my players on quests to find artifacts or objects either describing or empowered by gods (in his efforts to discover how to become a god himself). Anyone who attempts to detect alignment or otherwise discern his true nature... well... their life expectancy was reduced to a single initiative roll. He has no love or true interest in the group, simply is using them as pawns in his schemes.

Toril at least do have NPCs that could take Dregoth not counting the gods.

He could at least base New Giustenal on another plane. He's got to be able to find somewhere more fertile than a largeish cave deep underground. In his 2,000 years of exile he could easily have built up an empire several times the size of the Tyr Region and crushed his enemies on Athas by sheer force of numbers.

Personally I think the Planar Mirror is way too powerful and I prefer to say that it has many restrictions. e.g. Travellers in other planes will be recalled to Athas after a random period of time, or their link with reality is broken and they dissolve into nothing (or maybe stay there forever); for every being brought back from another plane, an Athasian being must be sacrificed; planar adventurers can only bring back as much extra-Athasian loot as they can carry; Dregoth & co have very little control over what plane the Mirror will take them too. In my view this still makes the Mirror very powerful but means that Dregoth's power base has to remain firmly in Athas.

in our Campaign our DM had Dregoth in Ravenloft setting with his powers available to his Templars in New Giustenal and old Giustenal as well as the Caller in Darkness (which had morphed to Ravenloft and also Bodach as well as the Dead Lands and of course still at Giustenal just a lesser calling like at the Blasted Spire. Dregoth Rules on Both planes but is trapped in Ravenloft, yet has more (GODlike) powers there than he did on Athas.
