It is maybe a silly idea I have but maybe we can play a little bit of rolplay online. I got the idea when I asked Trey something about a charakter in my world (the brewing witch:D) and be did a little rolplay-session. Trey was a red robe wizard of the tower of high sorcery:P how obviously

I would like to play a rolplay-session online, but I wouldn't want to be a DM. I want to play again a free charakter:P
The rolplay wouldn't be normal of course, there are no dices.
We can only act and react on what the DM tells us.
But the most importent question is 'could this work'? And how would like to be the DM?

If it could I would like to play a elf (male) red robe wizard;) (I love wizards)

Hmm usually when people play online campaigns, the DM creates the topic and has the characters join. Ive been playing a fair bit of IRC and play-by-post games, and I strongly suggest that you take a look at IRC, and more specifically the D&D relevant channels on the GameSurge server network.

If someone agrees to run a play by post game, count me in.

It depends on the age (if its in DL), the setting, and the style of play. I always enjoy making characters that conflict with all three of those things :P

No, seriously, I would play a rogue/mage, gish or cleric, depending on the style of character generation used.

Alternatively, we could make a triple tag team and wreck harvoc in this game. A friend of mine has a character there, and she claims that the game has some excellent RP going on.

Maybe we can ask Darthsylve to play the DM? I think he would do a excellent job. He has a lot of fantasy and writes a fantastic campaign on the other thread .

I have not seen Leowar on line here in a long time.

Darth, maybe have us post our characters and levels online with a background, if you want us at first level, et c.

Just remember to check the thread that shows how to generate a 1st level character for my campaign and the way some of the classes have been adjusted (mainly the cleric). It would probably be best for you guys to send me an e-mail (darthsylver@hotmail.com) with your e-mail addresses and I can send you the house rules and everything because some stuff has not been posted, like wound & vitality rules, armor as damage reduction, and the adjusted weapons critical ranges found in the unearthed arcana. We might even have to start at 2nd or 3rd depending on what races you guys want to play. If nobody wants to play a race that has a level adjustment then yes we would start at first.

And in with time period do we play?

I was thinking a Kender Wizard...:D

If we are doing this it is going to be in 996 AC. There should be a thread on these boards that give the basic timeline and description for game play. i would also send an e-mail with all the wrok done so far.

For charater creation, yes i would like each person to write a backstory for their character. Right Now I am looking to start the campaign in Caergoth, so everybody's backstory should have them ending up there for some reason, otherwide the almighty gods (the DM) might have to conspire to come up with a reason and a way as to why their character winds up in Caergoth.

I can share the magical spotlight :D

Besides, depending on our speciality we can cover a very wide range of jobs. Also, my character's background is mutable enough to allow him to become a Cleric if all else fails

While everyone wants to play a mage, maybe different color robes, is that practical for a party?
Maybe if this is something we want to do, it could take place during the Lost Battles?

Raistlin would be somewhere in the Reds maybe Black just for flavor, but I can take on any role if need be.

I think that the characters should be unique and not someone else's creations.

Do we need to put down feats and skills stuff too?

I haven't seen anything obviously copied, though of course I don't know what anyone is playing so that may have something to do with it lol.

Alright all, I have created a yahoo group named "Ansalon 1000 AC." I will post the campaign notes there and how to generate a character. As I am not sure how to do the dice rolls yet, what we will use for char generation will be a point system. Once I get that on the group everyone will be able to generate their character and send it to me. To be a member of teh group I believe you have to send an e-mail throught the group e-mail address so give that a try and we will go from there. I will not restrict how many of a certain class the party can have, so if everyone wants to play a wizard, so be it. The campaign notes will also let you know what supplements are available. If nobody wants to play a race that has a +1, +2 level adjustment then the party will start at first level.

Remember that my campaign as denoted above will take place around 1000 AC. So Raistlin is long gone. I do suggest that everybody read the portion of the thread that details Ansalon's histoy up to this point. So, no, the campaign will not be during the lost battles, sorry. If I DM in the past I tend to let the characters change the future and things uusally get a litle strange because they start looking for hints into the future that are not there any longer. For instance one time Tanis actually took Verminaard place, like I said, very insteresting.

When I said Raistlin, I meant my Kender guy. Maybe I'll just call him Raist or something shorter to avoid confusion.

Sorry about that LEowar. I actually named it DL1000AC. My bad.

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/DL1000AC/

This should be the link.

Yeah, double checked it. When you hit the link there is a blue icon on the right that says join this group, just click it and you should be good.

I am still looking at how to actually play, opinions and ideas would be welcome. I have played online in a chat room through IRC (if I remember that correctly) once and they had a dice roller that showed the results but I am not sure about exactly where that was. But I am looking.

So is it a 32 point buy, and also what books can we choose feats, PrC's, options, ect from (aside from the DL books obviously), and one more, if its vitality/wound system like the old edition of the Star Wars RPG how does that work with spells and other massive damage abilities?

I play on a site that has an integrated dice roller in a forum format. I won't post the name here in case that it's viewed as an ad but PM if you're interested.

Help! Yahoo won't let me sign up! No matter what e-mail address I put in, it always highlights it in yellow and says, "Please correct the entries highlighted in yellow. We either had trouble understanding those fields, or need more information." What do I do, guys? WHAT DO I DO?!

....Okay, I got it. It says you can put a single dot, but no, because that's obviously what messed it up...

Trey

For stuff that is not dealt with in game (classes, feats, etc that you want to take...) that will be on the yahoo groups site. For in-game stuff we will post on whatever forum we use to actually play the game.

Steelwind

As far as for points I have not decided on that yet, remember I just got back from vacation give me a day or so and I will give a point total. Available source books are addressed in chapter 2: classes and chapter 7: house rules. Other stuff (spells, feats, etc..) is addressed in chapter 7: house rules. Spells and massive damage abilities still affect vitality points in the same manner as normal. Think of Wound points as additional hit points that are affected after all vitality points have been used in the normal way.

Nightside samurai

Yes, please PM me that forum.

Please as we use user names on this forum, if somebody join the yahoo group and the user name is different please write something, a post or description, so that I can match up names there with people on this thread.

As far as for the character point buy I already give enough extras with the free level of an NPC class and regional traits. So Steelwind, it will be the standard 25 point buy, so choose wisely.
#45

steelwind

Jul 13, 2007 0:08:43
Wow, 25 points huh, I think this will be my first character with pretty crappy stats (well there was that one back in 2ed), my group usually uses 4d6, reroll 1's, 2 sets, pick the best one. So this will definately be a change.
