The Cleric and her PrC (in DL)

So I have an NPC from my FR campaign that is a Cleric of Lathander 5 / Morninglord 5. She travels to Krynn. Well the year is 350 AC and guess what? She is outta luck. No spells for her, no Godly chats late at night to keep her faith up. In short, she is an over glorified body bag (which is just fine by the Rogue, who really can't stand her anyway.). Now, lets say when the old gods return (which is in 352 AC I think) she decides to worship Paladine. She would get a Medallion of Faith, and be granted spells and turning ability.

So what happens to her PrC? Does she lose it? Can it be changed to another PrC? Does she get her old PrC even though it is directly related to Lathander the Morninglord from FR?

What say you?

Well that depends on you. Read what you can about paladine in the DLCS, Holy Orders of the Stars and War of the Lance. Then read the details for the Prc, and if it fits the religious ethos of Paladine then Paladine might let her keep it. If not perhaps you can see if she qualifies for a different Prc that is more in line with Paladine, perhaps even Bright Warden of Paladine from HOoTS.

Where is the Morninglord Prc described? I will take a look at it to see what else I can tell you.

Hey!

Thanks!

It is located in the Player's Guide to Faerun, pg. 66.

She qualifies for the PrC dedicated to Mishakal at the moment.

Maybe I will take your advice and let her change to that when we get to it.

Thanks again!

Well the Bright Warden of Paladine would definately be the closest equivilent to the Morninglord of Lathander, and if need be let her use the PHB 2 retraining rules to qualify but really all she would probably need to do is change Improved Turning to Extra Turning and add some ranks in spot.

Also just one question, the character in question actually took the Skill Focus (Heal) feat, seems kinda like a waste of a feat and I cant really see taking it except for prereq purposes, but hey thats just IMO.

I make my players use the Heal skill quite often. Whenever they want to determine how hurt another player is, I make them make a Heal check DC 15 (DC 20+ if in the middle of combat). The cleric makes heal checks all the time for this and for detemining whether a characters been poisoned, has taken ability score damage, etc. If he suceeds at the check he can then make a Knowledge (nature) or Profession (herbalist) to try and heal the damage or cure the poison naturally or knows what spells to pray for the next day. I try to make sure that all the skills get some spotlight time.

What is she going to do until the gods return?

In the last few games, she has used her diplomacy and her healing skill.....alot!

But for her, the game is a test of her faith. With no spells and no healing for the group, she has to use her skills more than ever.

Being told that their are no Gods and that hers either doesn't exist or can't reach her has brought out some great rpg moments in our game.

Didn't either Planescape or Spelljammer cover the official rules for clerics off there own world. I dont remember what those were but someone on here might.

Krynn's gods are jealous, they wont allow other gods to come in with worshippers.

Some of the more subtle ones may try and sneak in for some worship though. I can just see Chemosh or Morgion posing as a nice guy and grant some spells to a lost Cleric from another place.

Then the spells become a bit darker, hurting more than healing, draining away life instead of giving it back, all the while twisting and turing the Cleric into a dark force in service of even darker Gods.

And the whole time the Cleric is happily sending prayers to Yondalla or something...[insert sinister laughter here]

I think that Taki would be more likely to do that, after all, it is something she would later do in the Age of Mortals and being hte One God.

Bleh she gets all the fun. I think I'll let someone else make a grab at this one. Maybe Morgion since the books I've read didn't feature him much.

I really like that idea.

Maybe Taki (or another god of evil) grants my PC spells. She thinks she is praying to her god while in actuality an evil god is granting her abilities. The more spells she uses, the more evil she becomes. Maybe I can throw Willpower checks or something to see if she begins to walk the dark path.

I LIKE IT!!!!

Thanks for the idea!

You're Welcome! :D

I'm planning on using it on my PCs now.

My general plan will be to have a BBEG that is considered "weird" and worships false Gods. When they defeat her, they discover she's a traveller worshipping Pelor (maybe) and got tricked into giving worship to Morgion.

Then they find the ship....:D

Morgion vs. Pelor? I like it. I like it a lot.
