i love this dungeon and i LOVE to have any group that i play with go thru it. its great for building adventurer teamwork and survival smarts.

anyway, we're in athas and i was wondering has anyone ever run this on athas before? its just going to be a left over from the green age and i have already seeded the maps and such.

my general questions are:

what should i use instead of high CR demons? -- they really dont make an appearance in the original module unless the pcs go etheral (gray) and if the pcs solve the dungeon the demons are the ones tasked with rebuilding it... reseting traps, fixing broken doors, retrieving magical loot, etc.

how much should i make the iron doors worth? -- there are a few iron doors in the dungeon and my group, as i know that they are good athasians, will see the value of them.

there is really very little gold in this dungeon and i was wondering what should i do with the gold they do find? i was thinking 1gp=1Cp since no one remembers gold nor uses it for money. i did thik that jewlers would like it as a good soft and shiny metal that is easy to make jewlery.

thanks

Actually, my PCs reached the columned hall just Saturday (after a TPK a few weeks before when everyone but one PC fell into the lava pit)! I also like this dungeon very much, I hope you know about this updated version for D&D 3.5. I did not (and would not) run The Tomb of Horrors on Athas, but I will try to answer your questions as best as I can.

I would use especially tasked undead which were either bound by Acererak or are bound maintain the dungeon like meortys are bound to uphold some ancient, long-forgotten laws.

If you keep the doors AND let the group remove them, then they should not have any monetary problems anymore. Ever. I strongly advise to change them to magically reinforced stone or something like that (Acererak definitely has the means to do that).

Actually, gold is verys much used for money on Athas. 1 gp = 100 cp, so you should adjust the amount and type found to your group and playing style.

thanks

actually i'm placing the dungeon under the ruins that are under the Black Sand Raiders camp. they are a slave tribe from the old slave tribe supplement. getting into it should be relatively easy. getting out of it should not. :evillaugh

We ran it in our campaign near Kalidnay in the mountains to the east. it was incredible, we were shrunk down for weeks in that small area near the ship as i recall. We had a blast with that scenario on Athas.
