3e Campaign Setting - worth getting?

I remember 2nd edition Dragonlance from a while back and I just noticed that they now have a 3rd edition version of the campaign setting sourcebook.

My first reaction was "Why?" Although I never personally owned the 2nd edition sourcebooks, I imagine they were mostly flavor text with descriptions of places, factions, histories, legends, etc. In other words, I would think campaign setting sourcebooks would be mostly rules-agnostic.

I realize that this would not be entirely true, however. The information about different draconians and Dragonlance-specific races like kender would deal with mechanics and therefore be specific to the ruleset being used... but still, it seems like the amount of stuff that needed converting would be much less than the amount of rules-agnostic (i.e. - unchanged) info. Am I wrong?

I ask because I'm thinking about running some Dragonlance adventures. I could get an old 2nd edition campaign setting at a local used bookstore super-cheap or I could pay a lot more for a brand new 3rd edition setting. Is it worth it?

The Campaign Setting book is pretty good, especiall with how they break down all the Knightly Orders and Wizards for 3e. I prefer the War of the Lance book, but that's mostly a setting preference. So, here comes the true answer. Ready?

If you just wanna run something that kinda feels Dragonlance-ish, get an old adventure and spruce it to fit your needs. If you wanna run "true" Weis-Hickman DL in all it glorious fun, get the book.

Actually, most of, if not all of the PRCs and some of the races have been redone so the DLCS is kind of obsolete.

The DLCS is only needed if you are going to be running a 3rd Ed game. Trey mentioned that most of the races and PrCs have been updated and errata's and that's true, but there is so much more in this book other than that. Before 3.5 came out I was running my own DL 3rd Ed game just by modifying some of SRD. When 3.5 and the DLCS debuted, I picked it up and found that I'd done most things correctly and much of the stuff I wasn't was just athsetics.
