Greetings!

I am in the middle of writing a custom campaign setting for my group and rain/water plays a very large role in the setting. Rain in this would is incongruously viewed as both necessary for life (drinking water) and dangerous/deadly/evil (flash flooding).

I glanced through the lists of "core" gods and goddesses and was dissapointed in that there didn't seem to be any deity that focuses on something so focal to my campaign. When I searched other campaign settings for deities that I might be able to use, I came across Tlaloc. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Greyhawk setting and have no knowledge of the lore surrounding this figure. Of course I turned to the Tlaloc wiki entry for information, but I am not certain how much of the original mythology matches with the greyhawk god.

From the Tlaloc wiki:
Tlaloc is the Aztec the god of rain and fertility. He was greatly feared among the Aztecs, who drowned children to appease him. They believed that Tlaloc was responsible for both floods and droughts, and that he had been created by the other gods. He is commonly depicted as a goggle-eyed blue being with fangs.

Human sacrifices were often made in his honor, usually children. Before the victims were sacrificed, their tears were collected in a ceremonial bowl, to serve as an offering. Priests sometimes made children cry before the ritual sacrifice by tearing off their nails.

It's not Greyhawk, but the FR side-setting of Maztica may be helpfull to fill holes.

I would be very grateful for any information you could give me or point me towards on the subject of Tlaloc.

Tlaloc is an intermediate Lawful Evil deity of rain from the World of Greyhawk's Olman people. Tlaloc is listed in Living Greyhawk's Official Listing of Deities Ver. 2.0. But, I imagine it uses The Scarlett Brotherhood as source material. That is where Tlaloc was introduced to Greyhawk by Sean Reynolds. In The Scarlett Brotherhood, the picture shows his holy symbol with horns. But, the text says he has tusks...

Here is a link to the Deities document:

http://www.wizards.com/rpga/downloads/LG_Deities.zip

Go to page 168 and you'll get game information (Domains, favored weapon, etc...). You'll have to find a copy of The Scarlett Brotherhood to get its flavor text.

I hope this helps.
