Just found and article that makes it sound like the "less-popular" settings (not my quote, read the article) will be getting an update through DnD Insider and not their own CS book. Read it for yourself and see what you think:

Other classic campaign settings [besides Forgotten Realms and Eberron] may be revisited in print product as demand warrants, but not as full-blown product lines. Most of the support for these less-popular campaign settings will occur on D&D Insider, in the form of articles, wikipedias, and the like.

Nuts! Looks like my hopes for a WORLD OF MYSTARA hardcover took a punch. Still, "Kill Bargle" was in the last issue of DUNGEON...

No offence, but Mystara is in the end of a long line of classic settings.... Never was a very popular one after AD&D.

The irony is that Greyhawkm one of the grand olds, took it's place in the waiting line...

I wouldn't call some of them lesser settings. Some of them got a whole lot more support in the past and sold much better than some out now. I believe the term "Lesser Settings" is insulting.

"Lesser known" or 'less popular" would be better, I agree.

Miss quoted the article linked above, and coun't edit the header. They used "less-popular" settings in the article that I linked to.

Sorry about that then. I guess I just got corupted by the title for the thread. Still don't like the less popular title though as for example, Dragonlance has sold VERY well. Really, the only reason why some of these settings are less popular is because they did not support them for 10 years. That amounts to a large generation gap in the way of gaming.

I don't think they are including Dragonlance, just the 2E ones they released in the 90's and the only reason they say they didn't sell as well is that TSR flooded the market with too much stuff it was hard for people to keep up, therefore they didn't sell well. We'll see if WOTC learns from TSR's mistakes in this area.

Very true. Oversaturation of the market was one of the things that led to the demise of TSR. I would rather have 3 or 4 great quality products come out a year than 7 or 8 average ones. I would also be willing to pay a little bit more for those few great ones than a glut of cheaper average ones. Hopefully this time they stick with the "All Hardcover" idea for all books except adventures. It is annoying to have 2 or 3 softcovers in there when they would have done just fine as hardcover and were not much cheaper in any case.
