Where should this adventure be set in Greyhawk? The module gives suggestions for Eberron and Forgotten realms, but not Greyhawk.

One thing is sure... Not a baklunish place. But a place near baklunish lands, for...

Remember, Strahd's realm is inspired heavily from Romania and the Balkans - and Vlad Dracul... And the original Dracula saw the turkish Ottoman Sultanat direct in the background, with the Hungarian Kingdom as a strong player nears, an Ottoman Greece, serbians, etc...

Not sure if there is a place like this in Greyhawk, but this should provide hints for interesting places perhaps. Look at the fluff on barovia.

I've been thinking of running it and I was going to set it in the Yatils near the Perrenlands.

The Flanaess offers several workable places for Barovia. Perrenland sounds like a good place. I've heard people use the Sepia Uplands. Any of the hills and mountains north or south of Exag can also be good places to set Barovia. Maybe even somewhere behind either Krestible or Molvar in the Yatils, too. This would put Castle Ravenloft close to the Balklunish people he may have fought against for his Oeridian or Suel masters.

Western Bissel also works well. Perhaps just north of the Dim Forest - a place few people go these days. It puts him in proximity of the Balklunish and can potentially make him a former Knight of the Watch from the Tavish the Blackguard era. You could tweak the Knights of the Raven prestige class to match this concept. This can give him some more plausible roots in the area. He is the ancient and the land" after all. It will shorten his time as a vampire by half, though.

Any of this make sense or help?

Thanks for the input. We were all thinking along the same lines. So choices would be:

1. Bissel/Dim Forest west of the Realstream River. I like the possible ties to the Valley of the Mage. Could Strahd have been the Mage at one time? Hmmmm....

2. Anywhere on the fringes on the Bramblewood looks like a good solid locale. Makes Ket the main foil.

3. Lastly, Perrenland although I think of Iggwilv as being the main protagonist in the Yatil area. Perhaps her ascendency contributed to Starahd's being pushed out of memory. Wasn't Iggwilv's daughter a vampire? Possible plot ties here.
