Iuz in Third Edition

Questions for those more knowledgeable than I: Can anyone provide me with bibliographic information regarding Iuz in Third Edition products? (Anything would be great.) I've seen tidbits here and there, but nothing terribly substantial. Was Iuz ever given statistics, as were other Oerth deities? Is there more information regarding the Old One published for Living Greyhawk that was made available only to the RPGA?

Thanks in advance,

Kris

Iuz's basic stats are in the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. His full stats, similar to those found in Deities and Demigods, can be found in an issue of Dragon. I don't recall the number, but it came out at the same time as the D&DG book.

Iuz: YOOZ or EE-uz

Although I do recall some product having him down as EYE-uz which annoyed me as much as I had been annoyed when I found out that drow is pronounced like cow (DRA-o) and not crow (DROE).Cant remember the name of the product - probably one of the From the Ashes period....

Right on – those are all still terrible, IMO, but I guess they're better than OOZ…

Hehehe - English being a foreign language to me I was one of those whose D&D party made up their own pronunciation to names and stuck to them...Only to be shocked much later on...

Drow was something we discovered via the internet some 10 years later!!! The sock was immense

Naturally we usually stick to our way of pronouncing things...EE-uz actually sounds ok to me but it could be the almost two decades of using it

Anyone know then which Dungeon published the Old One's stats?

Interesting. I used to pronounce it EYE-uz until I read the LGG, which says it's pronounced EYE-ooze. Now that's how I say it.

The few places in The Temple of Elemental Evil PC game where voiced dialogue mentions Iuz it's pronounced either EYE-ooze or EYE-uz (I can't recall which, though my gut says the latter).

That may not be what you're thinking of, though.

Actually it was the LGG as Caeruleus pointed out...

Funny you mentioned the game though - cause I recently restarted it and I have been hooked on it again all last week...Just finished all the Elemental Temples (as in eradicated them) and getting ready for the big one... :-)

anyway , sorry for the OOT ...just any mention of ToEE brings a tear in my eye :-)

Okay, I don't know about anyone else, but I for one want to know more about this sock. Just how big was it? And why was it so big? Had the drow spent years knitting it, or was it full of drow, or what? Don't leave me hangin'!

ouch! Ok I need to get me out of this spotlight now...

Well, if I recall correctly the dark elven sock or psiwafi -as a famous Forgotten Realms CG ranger drow used to call it- is an infamous clothing article made by silk and drider threads interwoven with fine threaded mithril. It confers absolute immunity to poison gases and any attack related to smell while giving the wearer the ability to cast stinking cloud once per 3 days of continuous wearing without washing (once per sock as well!). [LORE DC:15]

A slightly known legend is sometimes circulated in the dark alleys of Greyhawk; that Zagyg had also once cooperated with a less known librarian of the guild of Wizards in using the latter's psiwafis to lure AND entrap the deity saint Cuthbert; two dire reindeer (one red-nosed); a bag of holding; and thousands of toys. Rumor has it this ploy never worked so Zagyg had to make do with just 9 demi-gods while Cuthbert enjoyed the situation so much that he has been applying in various material planes... [LORE DC:20]

Rary's treachery is attributed to him not receiving a cut out of the bag of holding albeit his countless letters to St Cuthbert about him being a good boy, wheras Bigby used his big fat hands to get the best toys out of the bag [LORE DC:30]

Hope I helped :-)
