This is desolation. I guess these games never existed long enough to get a good fan base.

You might see an occasional visitor here (very occasional) but there's still a fairly lively discussion at A.Net:

I tried getting back into this game, but most people had already migrated to d20 future, where aspects of Alternity were integrated. The art and quality of the original Alternity surpass the d20 rules.

Alternity Game Day is just around the corner, as well. March 3rd. Should be another online hosted event (hopefully) at www.alternityrpg.net...

http://www.alternityrpg.net is the place ya ought to be

The Alternity lovers are still out there. We're a small but proud community doing what we can to keep the game alive. I've personally made it my goal to make sure there is at least one official Alternity event at GenCon every year. I've done Dark Matter, Fantasy, Post-Apocalytic, and this year I'm doing Supers. Next year I'll swing back to Star*Drive.

It really sucks to see that this game isn't getting the same kind of attention that it should be getting. Someone should do an OGL:d version of the mechanical rules, apply them to a similar conceptual setting and release it.

I am running a Dark Matter based D20 Modern game in the Play by Post Forum on Gleemax.

This game was a great game. It got killed off on purpose to pave the way for d20.

Aternity Books can strill be had in the hobby market. And they are better and more solid than d2o future.

The Alternity official website has lots of play by post games running.

Rich baker has shown up there for scheduled chats, it is still a very much enjoyed game. Not on the scale of 3.5 certainly. But there is a dedicated following.
