I've been reading through Ravenloft II recently as, though it's been on my shelf for eons, I've never gone through it. Now I'm planning to run it for a group to playtest some paladin variants. I have to say, either I've been doing Ravenloft all wrong, or the guys who wrote this are marvelous sadists. It has some of the best (both in the hilarious and terrifying) random encounters I've seen in something published. My original favorite was 100-400 ravens, because... I mean, come on, that's amazing ;) But then, I came upon a line that nearly killed me. "They should have a close encounter with Azalin and a squad of 28 ghasts" poor little PCs. So... I guess to make this a good discussion. What are some of your favorite random encounters for Ravenloft?
