Is there any project, ongoing or finished, that has updated the stats for the monsters and mounts of Athas?

If not, is there any interest in the general community to see it happen?

Cheers,

What do you mean by update of the stats?

Translating the 2nd edition monsters into 3.5 D&D, such as the Nightmare Beast, that now appears on the Monster Manual II.

Except for a few very obscure beasties, all creatures are described in Terrors of the Dead Lands, Terrors of Athas, and Legends of Athas. All are 3.5E. The nightmare beast is there as well.

Go to athas.org, the Athasian monsters and mounts' 3.5 stats can be found in Terrors of Athas (albeit in the old format).

Remind me to name one of the villains in my upcoming adventure Alexis, so Jon can torture and kill it.

Make him Lord Alexis and you have my permission :D
And isn't Kal already villainized in one book or another?

Well, villainized technically not yet. You can read about the misfortunes of a certrain Trebor in Legends of Athas, but it's not until Silt Sailors comes out that you will be able to read about the adventures of Kal the "happy" pirate. :P

You are just a sad little man because I had a character named Onurb in my short story that I submitted to Writers of the Future and you are still pouting over the fact that this character was subsequently beaten death. You knew and endorsed me using this character name and had many oportunities to object seeing as how you were one of the proofreaders who seen the story before it was ever sent.

I might also add that I used this character name with your (brun01's) permission, but no such asking or permission was granted by me, and this act carried out by the "professional staff" at Athas.org could actually be considered libale - seeing as how is it is defamation against my character/reputation "as set out by Lord Atkin in Sim v. Stretch [1936] 2 All ER 1237, at 1240, a defamatory statement is one which tends to lower a person, "in the estimation of right-thinking members of society." It is not that the statement be made to the person in regard, it must be communicated to another. Tort law protects one's interest in preserving his/her reputation. In Canada, the law of defamation permits actions for Libel and Slander against those who seek to damage the another’s reputation.(10) In Hill v. Church of Scientology[1995] 2 S.C.R. 1130, Cory J. reviewed the origins of defamation law"

The fact that you and Pennerin just mentioned me (a la my on-line avatar/board ID) and say that I am mentioned in the LoA, that claim no longer holds true. See quotes below:

It's one of those damn coincidences again!

I doubt that all those who view this board will agree that "coincidence" not a factor in this.

I've been called Pennerin! I've been defamated!!

No, don't laught, this is serious! For the soul of my person, the very essence of my character, is tied in to that name! I mean, for Gods' sake, it's not called an avatar for nothing!

When I get back I`m going to sue someone. I don't know who and I don't know how, but I will sue someone!

Well I hope you guys like this next move and are able to laugh just as much, because I am not amused and had asked that that comment be taken out of the "official" publication. Seeing as how it was not, it seems like there is more I must do.

Somehow I think our friend Robert has missed the point behind our jests

...nha! I prefer to imagine a less dark world in which Robert is pulling a mighty jest on us!

i would love to see this in court, the judge would laugh. a fictional characters name without a patent and displayed on a public forum becomes free for whomever wishes to use it. normally any information that is not copywriten that is posted on a public forum becomes the property of the site and is no longer the sole property of the original author. differant sites have differant rules ofcourse. but defamation of a fictional character would never hold up in a court, unless it was some justice system held in someones garage.:P

this is one reason i limit the information i will post on a forum. also people have been known to sue authors for finding information that is similar in their novels. I post about a beastheaded giant mage and it becomes a focal character in a novel and i sue. this has lead to many issues on forums when dealing with posting original content.

This was ofcourse an exsample, i have never sued an author and would be honored to have something of mine stolen.:D

this was ofcourse just a joke and should not be taken to heart.:evillaugh

Huntmaster Avatar is copywritten.LOL! (waits to see if they get it.)

This thread deserves disturbing random DarkHelm motion.

If you're psycho and you know it, kill a friend
If you're psycho and you know it, kill a friend (kill a friend)
If you're psycho and you know it, and you have the knife to show it,
If you're psycho and you know it, kill a friend.

If you're masochistic and you know it, hurt yourself.
If you're masochistic and you know it, hurt yourself (hurt yourself)
If you're masochistic and you know it, and you have the scars to show it
If you're masochistic and you know it hurt yourself.

You can now continue with your regularly scheduled thread.
