On the right hand side, there is an old battlefield marked on the map, due north of Fort Hobart and the bugbears marked there. It is actually just inside Rockhome territory.

Has this battlefield been fleshed out anywhere in Gazeteers or fan material? I am wondering where it comes from and can't find it mentioned anywhere.

It makes a perfect site for the final part of my next adventure and was wondering if there is anything about it anywhere.

This battle appears on the Rockhome map, but I can't find a reference to it in the GAZ.

It's one of a couple of battlefields on the Rockhome map that were never specified (name/date) or given any other followup information, so I'd imagine you should probably use it however you want.

Given the proximity of that one and the one to the northwest of it, I'd imagine they were early humanoid incursions into Rockhome territory- possibly some battles of note during Queen Udbala's invasion, or else scouting expeditions looking for a safe and easy route into dwarvish territory (since the Darokin Tunnel either hadn't yet been created or simply because it is as yet unfound, IIRC, according to the Gaz).

Another possibility, if that mid-valley is used for Thunder Rift, could be tying things together that way.

Thanks for the replies.

To share a bit more about what I am doing-

Dungeon Magazine #15 has a B/X D&D adventure written by Carl Sargeant that takes places on a generic map. It involves the players stumbling across the trail of destruction left by a warrior knight using a wand of fireballs. They pursue through farm terrain, past a human village, before entering an elven forest and meeting the inhabitants. The pursuit takes them past the forest and to an old barrow on the "Plains of Despair", where they confront the warrior and the undead that lie there.

So to place it, I am starting the adventure on the Westron Road a few miles west of Selenica, and the trail goes north into Alfheim, bypassing Fort Hobart, before veering northeast and taking the warrior and the PCs to the final battlesite, which is the battlefield in Rockhome.

The adventure describes the barrow as the site of a battle between an evil cleric and a good magic-user, each at the head of an army. I could change it to a dwarven army, but my impression from the Rockhome Gaz is that the dwarves don't control the boundary regions in many cases, instead giants or humanoids occupy certain outer areas. And that battlefield isn't near anything to defend, if the humanoids wanted to attack the dwarves from that direction, they could easily be intercepted further inside Rockhome near fortified areas and close supply lines.

So I will keep the cleric and mage background, the cleric was carving out a region for himself, and also making some kind of bid for immortality, but was stopped.

The adventure uses a number of creatures from the AC9 Creature Catalog, including the sacrol, possession and gray philosopher.
