In Shattered Lands you meet a halfling like race called the mindhome, and another race of sentient spiders that are as a big as half giants.

Gonna play wake of the ravager as soon as I can figure how to get dosbox to recognize a disc in a virtual floppy drive (it asks me to put the disks, since it really think it is dos)

Yeah, the computer games aren't canon.

Nevertheless, I believe the sentient spiders are in Terrors of Athas. They have been made canon by athas.org. I don't think the mindhome are in that document, though.

Mindhome do exist in ToA, p. 89. As for sentient spiders, they, though medium, existed in TSR products as well: e. g., dark and mountain spiders in Monstrous Compendium II: Terrors Beyond Tyr (TSR2433), p. 106.

Both creatures are in Terrors of Athas.

What are the spider's called specifically? Sentient Athasian Giant Spiders perhaps?

And what would you think about silk armor? They make you some made out of their spider silk, but wouldn't the silk cause you to be even hotter in the desert, not to mention a sword could cut right through it.

Are those 2 races rebirth ones? The mindhome more likely. Though I can't see halflings turning into giant spiders, though they did turn into centaurs and lizard men. I asked Troy Denning if he meant to say that thri-kreen came from the rebirth, he said no. But, there's a part when describing the rebirth races, that "some even grew carapaces" what other races have carapaces? I think the Nikaal, but they are a brown age race, I believe, since there was no champion assigned to them.

The spiders are called Dark Spiders. And they are very fun (just ask my players)
