Because I was thinking of having it done. What do people charge for such a service? Are the 1e books easily rebound? Has anyone done this before? Thanks in advance. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : sandskimmer Date : 10-18-03 10:49 PM It might be easier to get a three-ring binder, hole-punch all the pages, and put them in plastic sleeves. Then again, some people might consider this sacreligious. It would certainly make them value-less. But, then again, if they are in such bad shape that you need to get them re-bound, maybe that doesn't matter. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : orange was the color... Then again, some people might consider this sacreligious. It would certainly make them value-less. Sacreligious? Yes. Valueless? No. I would happily pay for a sturdy, rebound 1e book, provided the rest of it is in good condition. Take 3e, for example. 3e books have terrible binding despite the fact that they are still relatively new. Come to think of it, I might have all my 3e books rebound. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : blackprinceofmuncie Date : 10-19-03 02:06 PM Bookbinding is expensive. You can buy practically new 1e books from Amazon.com or Half.com for US $4-8, which is much much cheaper than you could get your old books rebound for. Having recently replaced some of my old 1e books in this manner, I can tell you I was very happy with the quality of the books I received. I would say every one was in pristine condition, and I payed no more than $6 for any of them (~$8 with shipping). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Dogbreath Date : 10-19-03 03:43 PM Blackprinceofmuncie has even a better idea than i was going to suggest. I've been picking off the 1st ed.'s on ebay, of course. Amazon would be better, or half.com, because you won't have to fight it out for a copy. Still, there's a lot of copies of all of the 1st ed. manuals out there. In fact, I've managed to dig up just about every thing I can recall; even old modules for fairly cheap, all in a matter of weeks. You might use: http://www.acaeum.com/ in order to insure accuracy of replacement, as well as see a listing of other old time materials (modules and such) you might want to replace. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Thailfi Date : 10-19-03 10:05 PM Having your books rebound is just way too much trouble. There are always multiple copies of the rulebooks on Ebay. I have replaced all but my PHB over the last couple years. Inluding shipping, I didn't pay more than $10 for any of the books. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : SiHacker22 Date : 10-20-03 12:01 AM Thread Title : Re-Binding First Edt You could also down load them from www.rpgnow.com/ as a pdf wack them on a CD them print them out. This give you a stack more options. Like e-mailing them to players. Cheers -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : orange was the color... Having one large tome sounds very appealing. But would my spouse agree that it's worth the expense? Hmmmm....:nonono: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Algolei Date : 10-22-03 04:07 AM Have you considered rebinding your spouse? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : monkeybone Date : 10-22-03 04:27 AM  -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : diaglo Date : 10-22-03 07:50 AM Originally posted by Algolei Have you considered rebinding your spouse? how come i hear Madonna singing in the background with this comment. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : dogstar Date : 10-30-03 11:43 AM I have been lucky, all of my AD&D books are in pretty good condition (though I did lose by PHB and replaced it recently). Only the Unearthed Arcania has fallen apart, and so did almost everyone I knows. Grrrrr I am proud to still have my 1st Edition AD&D books, I tried Second Edition, but something just seemed to be missing, plus it meant so many books for a RPGholic. I got 3rd Edition, just for use in other d20 Games (Cthulhu, Slaine etc...) and balk at the idea of playing classic fantasy D&D. Why should I when I can play AD&D. Its weird, thinking back that there were no skills, and that we just roll played it, or ran it off a stat, until the survival guides arrived. How would these kids cope today huh! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:20 AM.
