I was just thinking of how much I'd enjoy a new Fantasy Setting Search contest - a competition similar to the one in 2002 that landed us Eberron. If Wizards is going to be releasing one new setting per year, then it seems that'd be an excellent way to choose one of them.

Considering the success that Eberron's had since it's release, it couldn't be a bad idea to let WotC cast their nets to see the best ideas that are available in 2008. I'd be even happier if Wizards released more info on the settings of the finalists this time - you know, to give us a taste and let the anticipation build. I'd love to see what sort of settings would be considered the cream of the crop...

I'm sure they will make a new campaign setting with the release of a new edition.

1st ed Greyhawk
2nd ed Forgotten Realms
3rd ed Ebberon
4th ed.......

But then again it could be change in ownership that marks the need for a new setting. With no need change in ownership we might not need another "official" setting.

If I'm not mistaken, they also baught the setting of the second prize winner. It seems to be still lying in a drawer at wizards.
