The most dangerous places in Mystara

Yesterday I was reading (again) GAZ 4 (Ierendi) and the chapter about Honor Island. A very dangerous place, full of high level spellcaster (about 2.000, at least half are 10th level or more, and they have about 50 druids and some-hundred clerics, and they are always watching for intruders).

Also White Island sounds as a very, very dangerous place, with its druidic strange curse.

I though: "there are places so, so dangerous in Mystara that I doubt if my players would be able to go there, even in high levels".

[On the other hand, places such as the Bank (or Merchant's Guild) of Darokin seems to be very weakly protected.]

So I ask you, dear mystarians, two questions:

-which do you think are the seven most dangerous places in Mystara? [if you were a high level enemy]

-which are the two or three most dangerous places your characters have been in [in combat or stealth mission]
?

My list of dangerous places:

1) Alphak's volcano (near Alphatia mainland)
2) Alphatian Council of Mages (Sundsvall, Alphatia)
3) Honor Island (Ierendi)
4) Temple of Rafiel (City of Stars, Shadowlands)
5) White Island (Ierendi)
6) Land of the Dark Sand (Ethengar, if the DM wants to fill it with many nasty powerful spirits
7) Sclaras Island (in Thyatis, full of high level wizards)

I do not think that the Golden Khan's Court or Thar's lair are very dangerous, as you can easily "fly away" invisible, while in these other places anti-magic and anti-invisibility are supposed to be easy, cheap and everywhere.

My highest-level (16th to 20th level) characters never were in these places. They had strong fights in the north pole and Esterhold (Skothar) against very powerful monster-races and civilizations, but never against well-watched places such as these.

So... have you ever been playing in those places?

I'd agree on most of these, though the Greatrealm (capitol of Hule) would also qualify, and the Wyrmsteeth is probably more dangerous than several of these.
OTOH, White Island has several high level druids, but they are so deranged that their effectiveness is much reduced. The Alphatian council and Sclaras are IMO more or less equivalent, since few Alphatian wizard would attend at any time (except in emergencies). So, my list would be

1) Gargantua's lair
2) Honor Island
3) The Wyrmsteeth
4) Alphatian Grand Council
5) Greatrealm
6) Sclaras
7) Alphaks' Volcano

1) The Negative Plane, on a mission to save an Immortal Candidate trapped there.
2) In the Outer Plane of Eloysia, battling Durhan the Conqueror (M4, played with Dwarf, Elf and Thief characters!)

That's for my first campaign, almost 20 years ago. I haven't played or DMed high level character (as in beyond level 12) since.

I would say that the homes of the Princes of Glantri each would qualify as dangerous places! :D

And the Great School of Magic in Glantri is probably not too healthy either.

1. Someplace in Alphatia
2. Someplace in Thyatis
3. Someplace in Glantri
4. Someplace in Hule
5. Someplace in Heldann
6. Someplace in the Azcan Empire
7. Someplace in Blackmoor

Exact nature of 'someplace' will depend on the characters, the DM and the campaign. :P
