A while ago I posted my version of a Pyreen not realising Athas.org had already done it in Legends of Athas. Heres my updated Pyreen which is slightly different from Athas.orgs version being an update of the Pyreen from 2nd ed.

I also stole the powers and spell lists from Athas.orgs version and in effect its a tidied up version of that one there. Due to easter I also have a 5 day weekend so I have something special planed as well.

Very nice. And true to the original Pyreen. Its not every conversion that stays true to the original creature.

My only critic is he CR. 17 for a psion level 13 and druid 16? But I agree CR aren't simple to define.

Great job!!

At the most it would be CR 18 IMHO. To be honest I suspect its hovering around CR17.5 or so:P

I based it as CR 16 due to the Druidic abilities and bumped it up as I figured the Psion levels would add one.

A level 16 Druid and level 15 psion as 2 individuals is a EL 17 encounter as is my CR 17 Pyreen so I figured it was about right.

Its not a final build either and I suspect it will end up looking alot like Athas.orgs version but slightly tweaked for my campaign as theirs is a beta release. I'm also statting out Rajaat which is about 60% done as I'm still working on his skills, spells and psionic powers. He clocks in at CR 44 anyway and should be up in the next day or 2. 5 days off work and trying to fit it in between Xbox live, Stargate Atlantis and general slacking around.

The math is simple and justified, but does it consider the added racial abilities of the Pyreen. Things that a psion and/or a druid doesn't posssed.

But I agree its not over 18 or 19 (at maximum). Espacially with the listed HP.

Yet a PC with two classes would have a character level of 29.

While true it doesn't matter so much for a NPC. a great Wurm red Dragon is CR 25 or so but for a PC its level 50 odd. 2 different things.
