Just a general question, but now that we have released LoA, AE, and LSH, has anyone taken this stuff and seen how they can really get the most out of it? I know that there are Car-Op boards, but I was curious if people had done anything with the available material to make good use of the material and really crank out some powerful characters.

Have to say that the only one I use is the AE.
LSH - never really interested me and LoA is an interesting read but characters rarely get high enough.
Used a couple of the creatures to put the "frighteners" on PCs :D

I've never run an epic athas game.

No. AE is the only one that is any use. Legends of Athas is all but useless to me as we don't play epic games, and the Lifeshaping Handbook is a bit to niche- my PCs don't even know about Thamasku let alone lifeshaping.

I suspect the LH could be broken if you tried as its abilities is tied to polymorph effects which are inherently broken. Alter Self right through to Shapechange need to be dumped or banned from most games (already done IMC).

Legends of Athas seems a bit on the weak side but I would have to reread it again to double check. Avangions and Dragons from an epic viewpoint are quite weak- you're better off with a single classed Psion, Wizard or Cleric/Druid power level wise. I'll reread the epic feats in LoA and see if anything jumps out.

I used to post on the char ops board years ago (when Paladins chargin for 200 damage was considered good) but don't have access to alot of the material they use and I have alot of D&D books. I usually do it to see what I can ban form slatbooks. Divine Metamagic for example isn't allowed into my games.

My campaign is 14th-15th level right now and my players just discovered the importance of halfings and the Pristine Tower. I decided the githyanki invaded Athas to take control of the Pristine Tower!

To the OP: I have not created any "powerful characters" as of yet. My PCs managed to spark a githyanki invasion so I shall be running them through "The Lich Queen's Beloved" with a twist. I may have to tone it down a little as well due to their current levels.

I plan on creating some bad*** characters after this adventure is complete, assuming they live.

Nice fishing job though. :-)

I would love to read how you run the lich queens beloved in Dark Sun. It could be very cool. In the Black spine module I believe it mentioned the possibilities of other bases. What have you done that way?

So would I. I wanted to run the adventure path Age of Wyrms or Savage tide in DS but they required a huge amount of tweaking if not major rewrite to make work.

. . . I weep for you Bruno. Here's an idea: let's start our own boards, mmm?

Are the rest of us having too much bad wrong fun? I think that everyones version of Athas is quite different. I also think that as long as we are having fun it is ok.
