IMC, the Queen of Air and Darkness is a recurring enemy for my players. A long time ago, the party seriously angered her when they came upon a facet of her Black Diamond. Sensing its great evil power, they destroyed it with spells. The Queen didn't immediately avenge herself on them. She waited, biding her time, watching them grow in power and purpose. When she judged the time was right, she disguised herself as a beautiful elven noblewoman and wizardess who met and pretended to fall in love with a PC (the elf priest of Corellon Larethian, believe it or not). At length, she invited him (and only him) to an intimate dinner. At this point, I felt kinda bad about misleading the player all this time, so I started giving him hints that might allow him to save himself "You're starting to feel a slight sense of unease about Aerilyn (the Queen in disguise)", or "You notice your food tastes strangely sweet, and you unaturally feel as if you want another plateful." The player blithely ignored it all, and continued eating and making conversation with the Queen. Well, you know what happens when you eat food the Queen of Air and Darkness has made, right? He fell under her domination, and the Queen cast a True Dweomer/Elven High Magic-like spell that instantly made the PC evil and her very own high priest. That shocked the PC's quite a bit and she earned their eternal enmity. Every now and then, whenever she's in the mood, the Queen of Air and Darkness will send a team of quickling assassins, bramble faerie mages, and spriggan priests to try and do their level-best to kill the PC's. They never succeeded, however. So, what stories do you have about your use of gods in Monster mythology? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : realmaster Date : 11-06-03 03:42 PM I don't have a story but I like using and playing dwarves and this book is great for them. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : spelunking flunky Date : 11-10-03 01:41 PM Agreed. In fact, I think it's a great resource for all creatures and their deities. Well worth buying. There are still a lot of mint copies out there, too. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:20 AM.
