I really want to run a Dark Sun campaign. My problem is that my players are VERY excited about 4th Edition coming out, so I am sure they will want to use 4th edition.

I suppose this isn't really a huge problem since I haven't even given thought to the path I want to take it. I was thinking I can throw some ideas out there and see if the community can point me in the right direction.

I would like to have the event presented in the Prism Pentad not have taken place yet. I am a HUGE fan of hostile worlds, and you don't get much more hostile than that.

For the first few sessions, I want to leave politics out of it. While my players can respond kindly to things of a political nature, I think they need to "warm up" in the world first. How do I introduce them to the worlds harshness?

My players won't really have access to the box set, which will make this a little difficult. They won't know alot of the basics. Is there a site that has alot of the basics on it?

Miniatures, players love em. I have no clue what to do since the creatures are so vastly different (which is great!).

A very localized campaign would be good. Short and sweet.

Hm, what I@m gonna try and do, restarting D&D after break....

Dark SUn, PCs are part of a caravan headed to Tyr.PCs can be anything guards slaves whatever.

Elf or such raiding band hits them, but then a much larger Belgoi band hits the elves from rear! Belgoi are gonna kill everyone, elf or caravan.

Many scenarios could happen from there...but the PCs will have ot make it to Tyr alive, somehow...

It's $4 for PDFs of the original boxed set from Paizo. Well worth the investment! (Hope that helps!)

If you're looking for some setting material for new PCs, think about starting them from Kurn and print out "Wisdom of the Drylanders" from www.athas.org

I reworked this concept (takes a bit of effort) to give each of my PCs a sheet on what they know about who to give them a jumping off point to play their characters well.

Hope it helps!
