I’m behind the curve here, so to speak. What is the status with the published settings for 4E?

Eberron – The “Indiana Jones and the Dragon’s Dungeon” setting. I don’t know its 4E status. What is the official word?

Grayhawk – The games original fantasy setting. I don’t know. Is there any official word? It was the “default” setting for 3.0 and 3.5? But I get the feeling that is no longer the case.

Ravenloft – The horror setting. This setting taken out of White Wolf hands a couple of years ago and last year Expedition to Castle Ravenloft was released. Besides that I don’t know anything about the status of this setting.

Al-Qadim – The “Arabian Nights” setting. I don’t know its 4E status. What is the official word?

Planescape – The plane-hopping setting. I don’t know its 4E status. What is the official word?

Spelljammer – The “elves in space” setting. I don’t know its 4E status. What is the official word?

Dragonlance – An older setting associated with the line of novel. I don’t know its 4E status. What is the official word?

Eberron I would assume any setting they paid that much for they are going to continue, also Warforged in the monster's manual, safe to say they are continuing it.

RL - Don't know.
GH - Heard its in.
AQ - Well all of Aber Toril is now one super continent (I have heard) so since FR is in, AQ is in a sense at the least, if its the AQ of 2e, I doubt it. Probably not in spirit only in technical geographical sense.
PS - Heard its in.
SJ - Heard its in
DL - Wasn't on the list I have seen, but have also heard its in and that MW is uh. Washing her hands of it.

Greyhawk is no longer the default D&D setting (and hasn't been for a few years now, according to the designers, but it's really really really not the default setting now). They have said they're working on a 4e version of Greyhawk, but no release date has been given.

The 4e Forgotten Realms setting is due to be released later this year.

A 4e Eberron campaign setting and two accompanying hardcovers are due to be released in 2009.

Two new Ravenloft novels are due to be published this year: Heaven's Bones by Samantha Henderson and Black Crusade by Ari Marmell.

Supposedly there are a few Dragonlance novels due to be published yet.

Planescape, Spelljammer, and other settings are all "on the table" for eventual release. The plan is to release one setting a year, three books each. No release dates have been given.

Let's just hope they don't screw with the basics, like introducing large quantities of metal on Athas, or making the sorcerer-king Nibenay a woman or something.... /sight

DS in, Mystara doubtful.

For which a lot of Mystara fans are truly thankful. Have you *seen* what's happened in Faerun?

I wonder if FR will ever touch on Maztica? Will it appear in the setting at all or will it be completely forgotten?
I'd like to see a revised version with out the whole Spanish Conquistador feel.

I think it's been erased from the world, replaced with a new continent entirely as part of the fallout of the Spellplague.

That is correct.

Where can I find out more information on the Grayhawk and Ravenloft books?

The only confirmed Settings are:

Forgotten Realms: August & September
Eberron: 2009

After that, it is all up in the air. A list was put out, but it was only a list of possible settings that MIGHT see print at some time. Nothing confirmed beyond the two thus far.

Personally I would love to see Planescape be sigil, and "planar" adventuring in those realms that bob around in the astral Sea, and spelljammer being ships that fly those seas, but run into other prime worlds rather than the realms of the gods and such. You could blend them in together with the new cosmology. That would be cool.

There is, according to the table of contents a Dark Sun article in the next dragon - so I think we will see other campaign support there, which is always nice, plus the articles adapting Keep on the Shadowfell to FR and Eberron in the Dungeon table of contents.

Me I run my own worlds, but I love stealing stuff from other sources. I used dark Sun stuff in a huge desert area in my world, that kept some of the flavor but wasn't the whole world. I hope to keep being able to do such things.
