Starting here, Tony DiTerlizzi has decided to draw new Planescape sketches, mostly as a warm-up exercise before he works on Spiderwick stuff. I love how he's imagined githyanki, the fiends, and the factions.

DiTerlizzi made Planescape for me. His artwork filled at least 90% of the setting's pages and it sold me completely. If Wizards were ever to hire him to do the same kinds of things for 4e, man would I be happy. Then again, 4e has a totally different "feel" for its art.

Hell, I just love this guy.

-The most unique artwork in a D&D setting.

-I'd like that, if WotC, in the future, used different artists, with different art styles, to better convey the "flavor" of the setting in question.

Brilliant art. Planescape would never have been the same without it. I love how it covered the whole book as well. I'm glad I have the old Planescape box to inspire me for trips to the planes. As you said I'm afraid his art probably doesn't fit in with Wizard's new design for 4e, which they'll probably want for all their new products.

Most of what you need for Planescape is setting info and non-rule specific things, so the old books should suffice. If you enjoy the old Planescape like me and want to keep the Great Wheel, there shouldn't be a problem to just use that instead of the (strange) way they do it in 4e. It would be cool if they brought in DiTerlizzi again though.

I think it would rule if they hired Tony D to be the art director for the planescape project. I honestly doubt they could afford him now a days, given his success with the spiderwick books and franchise...but if he looks back to his time working with planescape maybe he would do it just for the love of it!

Of course, I think that many of the new artists for WOTC are great also, but no one seems to have the....flare? Pazzaz? uniqueness? I don't know what it is, but TOny has something that sets his wrok apart from the rest.

I seriously can't wait for a new planescape!! I mean, I still have all my 2nd edition box sets that I can use for fluff and story, but a new take on it would be refreshing.
