Anybody remember that module where the PC's went to a tropical island leagues away from teh mainland and got attacked by dinosaurs and helped by natives who hid behind a great wall with tar pits? What was the name of that thing? That was my favorite, next to Borderlands. I think it had rules for underwater combat and evrything. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Solaris Date : 01-04-04 07:36 AM X1 - The Isle of Dread -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Greenhat Date : 01-04-04 10:33 AM I Believe that was called The Isles of Dread. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : sandskimmer Date : 01-04-04 01:35 PM Just to confirm: it was X1: Isle of Dread However, there was another tropical island adventure that was far superior to X1. X8: Drums on Fire Mountain is by far one of the best OD&D modules ever published. It was a tropical island adventure inhabited by orc pigmys who were ruled by a powerful wizard/necromancer. Unigue dungeon encounters and creative new monsters made this a truely amazing adventure. So if you thought X1 was great, if you ever get the chance to play this one, it'll make X1 look like a real bore. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : exempt Date : 01-05-04 03:37 AM Thanks! I'll try to check out Fire Mountain, too, if i can find it. Pygmy orcs sound like a hoot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Olli Date : 02-21-04 10:26 AM also thre was i think x10 riddlemaze of the minotaur (or somthing like that) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : kgiggles Date : 02-24-04 11:50 AM Thread Title : Another good one I`m not sure what level your PCs are but Isle of The Ape is a good one for high level PCs. I believe it was WG8, but I could be wrong. It`s even got a King Kong like encounter, lots of :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: off tribes, etc. I also think X1 and X8 are both good adventures for low to mid level PCs. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : seat139 Date : 02-24-04 12:43 PM Was the Isle of The Ape any good? I was thinking that it could be converted across to become an epic level adventure for my group, but was'nt sure whether the adventure was worth the download cost and time from Svgames or RPGnow. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : diaglo Date : 02-24-04 01:07 PM WG6 Isle of the Ape...it starts off with a very tough encounter. X8 Drums of Fire Mountain X1 Isle of Dread is good. also try finding Lathan's Gold a XSOLO for a solo adventuring exp. X10/B10 was part of the Desert Nomads series. not a jungle adventure. maybe also look at the Lendore Isles series L1, L2, and L3 in 1edADnD by Len Lakofta. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : kgiggles Date : 02-24-04 01:29 PM Originally posted by seat139 Was the Isle of The Ape any good? I enjoyed it very much back in the day. Converting it could be quite a chore, but not cause of the rules updates. It`s like a lot of the other "wilderness" modules, there is a lot for the DM too fill in, to make it theirs, etc. I personally would think that it would make quite an exciting epic conversion. :smirk: It does leave a lot of creative freedom, and can easily fit into a campaign (it`s an island). I myself would have a good time with this one. Did anyone else enjoy this module? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Edgewaters Date : 02-26-04 03:38 PM Originally posted by Olli also thre was i think x10 riddlemaze of the minotaur (or somthing like that) Original designation was M2, next in series after Blizzard Pass ... both invisible ink solo modules with short sections on using them as group adventures. Note that M is also the names for Masters series, so you have other M1 and M2 as well. Sometimes Blizzard Pass and Maze of the Riddling Minotaur are listed as MSOLO, but on the cover it is just M. There is a short sea voyage in Riddling Minotaur but it is not much of a naval expedition (I believe in fact you just get rowed out to an island in a small boat). Also I'm not really sure it's tropical even, but it does give the impression of being somewhat warm ... I think the idea is Meditteranean here. However it is on an island, or a section of an island (though it could be situated on the mainland if you wanted). If you buy this one on ebay, make sure that either all the invisible passages have been revealed, or it is still in shrink wrap with the invisible ink pen, or it will be mostly useless. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:19 AM.
