Okay, now that the forum has been reopened, we need to get the old threads back.

Apparently, the way to do it is to collect the relevant threads and post requests for them to be moved in this thread.

Didn't Cthulhudrew & Co already get pretty far with this project? Where did that thread go?

Thanks GP!
I have requested that they move my own threads now. I can make requests for more of the other ones later, but I didnt want to bomb them with too massive a post at first.

No? Then you shouldn't have asked to move your own threads :P

You may have noticed the archive list sticky at the top of our board.

It seems Webster has decided not to move our posts back in here.

Marker.

I'm positive I missed some of the smaller stuff here as well. I'll go back over them between this post and my prior post.

There are items that won't be getting moved, however. And- it's lots of them.

I posted my reasons here:
http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=16901110

And it can be discussed here:
http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1084615 (This is the one I'll be checking/responding to.)

You can see the original post here.

His reasoning:

First on the plate is numerous move thread requests to move threads to newly created boards.

As I was processing them, I noticed that most of the threads were old. Real old. Not only that, but there was no recent discussions on the threads. Sure, two months ago or so someone posted "bump" after five months of no activity. From all appearances, the discussions are dead and over.

Some threads are active, but very old, and very, very long. Past experience has shown us extremely long threads cause problems. It's either the software or hardware, I'm not sure where the source of the issues comes from. There comes a point where a thread needs to just be closed, and allowed to be archived/pruned.

The other thing that came to mind was these were NEW boards. They're not re-creating the old ones. They shouldn't be treated as being the old ones. Plus, if threads are to be archived/pruned, it becomes unnecessary to move them.

As a matter of fact, I think my first hit of thread move requests gave the system a heart attack. I've been seeing errors pop up and the last time I saw indexing errors was during the last time there was a massive amount of moved threads.

First unpopular decision today: Rather than moving massive amounts of threads in the other worlds boards to those boards, I put the requests as a sticky threads so folks can still find them. Beyond that, they shouldn't be moved. I don't think the system could take it. They're new boards, a fresh start and the opportunity to have them as a clean board should be embraced.

And I posted a response to his decision in the thread he indicated, here.

I encourage everyone to go and voice their opinion.

Good one Thorf!

I followed your example. Hopefully more of us will do the same!

Now, which five topics do we want moved first?

I know I would like one of them to be the Immortals thread. Beyond that, I'm not picky.

We should start with those in the "important links" page, then simply go in the appearance order in the links post (to simplify the management).

Makes sense to me.
