It was listed in either the 1st (most likely) or second edition of Unearthed Arcana. It's an (improved?) invisibility ring, which can make invisible up to 200 lbs in addition to the weilder, 10 ft height. You are able to attack while remaining invisible. This ring is listed under rings suitable for rogues/thieves, and is most likely 2nd or 3rd down the list of rings. Any additional information would be appreciated... Thank You. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : JamesDruidDM Date : 01-15-04 03:05 PM Sorry not in the unearthed arcana just went through it -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : King Cornish Date : 01-15-04 04:01 PM Thread Title : Right edition? :king: Originally posted by JamesDruidDM Sorry not in the unearthed arcana just went through it Did you look at the 1st or 2nd edition Unearthed Arcana? Thanks for looking by the way... I know Wizards released alot of the 2nd edition books - does anyone know if they released (for download) any 1st edition books, or more specifically, any version of Unearthed Arcana? Thank You. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : imayb1 Date : 01-16-04 10:12 AM It's not in 1E Unearthed Arcana, and not in the 2E Magic Encyclopedia, nor the Encyclopedia Magica either. Good luck... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : King Cornish Date : 01-16-04 10:48 AM Thread Title : Hmmm...again :king: Originally posted by imayb1 It's not in 1E Unearthed Arcana, and not in the 2E Magic Encyclopedia, nor the Encyclopedia Magica either. Good luck... Ok...can anyone find ANY kind of invisibility ring (and stats) in Unearthed Arcana? Thank You. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : GrungD Date : 01-18-04 02:28 PM Browsed through my heavily beat-up 1st ed. UA to see what I could see; only ring that have an invisibility-like feature is the Ring of Chameleon Power. Grants 90% invisibility "in foliage, against walls, and so forth." There's also the ability to fool creatures with 4 or more INT witin 6" into thinking you're the same race and type; 5% cumulative chance per turn of them recognizing you for what you are. Creatures with 16 INT or higher add their INT to this base chance, creatures of 3 INT or lower will "instinctively and automatically detect the wearer if they come within a 1" radius of him or her." No other ring listed in the book deals with invisibility (but one does bestow blink upon you). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : King Cornish Date : 01-19-04 11:36 AM Thread Title : Interesting :king: Originally posted by GrungD No other ring listed in the book deals with invisibility (but one does bestow blink upon you). Interesting, considering the keyword for my ring is "Blink." What are the properties of that ring? Thank You. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : abysslin Date : 01-20-04 10:53 AM Trying to sneak around your DM? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : GrungD Date : 01-20-04 11:23 AM Ring of Blinking: "When the wearer of this ring issues the proper verbal command, the dweomer of the item activates, and he or she is then affected exactly as if a blink spell were operating upon his or her person. The effect always lasts for 6 rounds. The ring then ceases to function for 6 turns (1 hour) while it replenishes itself. The command word is usually engraved somewhere on the ring. The ring will activate whenever this word is spoken, even though the command might be given by someone other than the wearer, provided that the words is spoken within 10 feet of the ring." --Unearthed Arcana, 1E Blink: Magic-User Spell, (Alteration) level: 3, Range: 0, Duration: 1 round/level, Area of Effect: Personal, Components: V, S, Casting Time: 1 segment "By means of this spell, the magic-user causes his or her material form to 'blink' out and back to this plane once again in random period and direction during the duration of each minute the spell is in effect (Cf. ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, MONSTER MANUAL, Blink Dog.) The segment of the round that the spell caster 'blinks out' is determined by random roll with 2d4, and during this same segment he or she will appear again 2' distant from his or her previous position. (Direction is determined by roll of d8: 1 = right ahead, 2 = right, 3 = right behind, 4 = behind, 5 = left behind, 6 = left, 7 = left ahead, 8 = ahead.) If some object is already occupying the space where the spell caster is indicated as 'blinking' into, his or her form is displaced in a direction away from the original (round starting) position for any distance neccessary to appear in empty space, but never in excess of an additional 10'. If that extra distance still dictates the magic-user and another solid object are to occupy the same space, the spell caster is then trapped on the ethereal plane. During and after the blink segment of a round, the spell caster can be attacked only by opponents able to strike both locations at once, e.g. a breath weapon, fireball, and similar wide area attack forms. Those not so able can only strike the magic-user if they managed to attack prior to the 'blink' segment. The spell caster is only 75% likely to be able to perform any acts other than physical attack with a hand-held stabbing or striking weapon during the course of this spell. That is, use of any spell, device or item might not be accomplished or acomplished in an incorrect manner or in the wrong direction. Your refeee will determine success/failure and the results thereof according to the particular action being performed." --Player's Handbook, 1E, 6th printing Doesn't have a whole lot to do with invisibility, but some munchkin players I used to play with used Rings of Improved Invisibility as well. I'm gonna see if I can't find it under some strange name in another moldy old tome for ya. Edit: Anyone have Complete Book of Thieves (name?) from the Complete Book of xxx series for 2E? It may be in there; I didn't bother with any of the books in that series, personally. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : King Cornish Date : 01-20-04 02:45 PM Thread Title : Insult :king: Originally posted by abysslin Trying to sneak around your DM? I'm not trying to sneak around anyone. Out of character, I'd like to know. In character, I only know as much as he knows, and I will act only according to what I know. I'm not like that... Thank You. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : King Cornish Date : 01-20-04 02:47 PM Thread Title : Thieves :king: Edit: Anyone have Complete Book of Thieves (name?) from the Complete Book of xxx series for 2E?
