What to do? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Karn1 Date : 01-20-04 02:24 PM i dont really understand what you wanna say by this.. morale is include in the description of all monster in the Monstrous Manual of the 2 edition ? also you can, as a dm, put one by logic -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 01-20-04 03:31 PM OK, let me be more specific, I'm playing 1st ed. D&D but am integrating some AD&D rules into a current campaign........the basic D&D rule book has morale listed for monsters whereas the Monster Man. I & II do not...I know that it can be up to the dm and circumstances, etc. but it's cool to have a value to roll against esp. when fighting a large group of monsters ie) 12 orcs....if my fighter cut the head off the orc leader..........well......I can use the D&D morale rules.....but for more complex monsters that the D&D rules don't cover.......??? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Hunter Rose Date : 01-20-04 04:32 PM Thread Title : One Suggestion I suppose you could start with a simple check against the creatures Wisdom (as one doesn't reason moral) and modify that based on the circumstances: damage taken, comrades dead, spells uncast, motivation to fight in the first place... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Stormcrow Date : 01-20-04 04:49 PM Use the morale rules in DMG pp. 36-37. In the original AD&D, morale is not a score particular to a monster; it is a percentage that has the modifiers listed on those pages. If you wanted to, you could add up all appropriate modifiers ahead of time to find a monster's "morale base," but the number would be different depending on lots of factors, so it's not included in the monster's description. For instance, well-paid orcs would be less likely to break or surrender than badly-treated orc slaves.
