I am restarting this thread because of a certain WizO closed my last thread for making a wrong assumption on a board he doesn't even moderate. The thread can be found here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?threadid=175692 I am against obtaining illegal material, and that proof can be found on places like the software boards, for example, here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?threadid=161753 So, in turn, here I am, posting again, with words chosen lot more carefully this time. After searching long and hard for the Necromancer Handbook, I have had no luck. So in turn, I need favors to ask of you... Do you guys have links to 2e necromancer classes and spells? NOTE! This does not imply anything about the handbook, so don't get any ideas! Not the handbook, but classes and spells, homebrewed stuff. I'd rather have the book, not a pdf file. But I'd rather find homebrewed stuff.. Which I've had little luck with as far as the net goes when it comes to finding what I'm looking for. This is not an attempt to locate illegal material, so don't even close this thread. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Sildatorak Date : 02-08-04 01:16 PM Realms of Evil (http://www.realmsofevil.net) has a bunch of stuff that is intended for villains in general, part of which is a pretty good supply of necromantic spells and such. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Kaya Kenobi Date : 02-08-04 05:53 PM Originally posted by Sildatorak Realms of Evil (http://www.realmsofevil.net) has a bunch of stuff that is intended for villains in general, part of which is a pretty good supply of necromantic spells and such. Now this is pretty nice. I really like this site... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : realmaster Date : 02-08-04 08:00 PM I got a couple of PM's from WizO_Loki that said one of the reasons the threat was locked is because that it is against the CoC to post links of outside commerical sites. I can sort of see the reason for this but I thought you wanted the 2E book of necromancers so I misunderstood you also. Glad to see you found what you wanted. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Kaya Kenobi Date : 02-09-04 03:21 AM Loki insinuated I was trying to obtain illegal material and that's why he closed it. It had nothing to do with advertising because all was needed was to delete the links.. There's plenty of other threads with links deleted but not closed. What he said really irked me, and that is why I am a bit teed atm... Anyways, back to the topic, is there anything else that has more stuff on 2e necromancers? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : imayb1 Date : 02-16-04 11:37 AM Here are a couple of things. . . Dark Sun gladiator ability: Feign death (5 CP) The PC has learned to fake his death and thus hopefully end a combat without being slain. Once per day, the PC can feign death as per the wizard spell. [Source, Dragon Annual 1996] -- This could be offered to Necromancers as a class ability. Their reason/purpose would be different, but it may be just as useful. Dragon Mag of Dec. 1993 printed an article about alternate familiars; including charts for humanoids and Underdark mages. The Complete Netbook of Spells also offered a spell called "call dark familiar" or "call necromantic familiar". [My favorite necromancer kept skeletal cats as pets.] Regarding the CNH, I have seen mages put together choosing one "dark gift" and one balancing "dark price" at each level-- or every even level (?). It worked pretty well, since the bonuses and negatives were kept balanced, the mage class abilities didn't suffer. Just a note-- Since the CNH is a free download to Core Rules Software users, like me, is it really so awful to send the info to other players??? Far be it from me to quibble with copyright laws, but if you're giving it away . . . What's so bad about sharing? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Sildatorak Date : 02-16-04 12:04 PM Originally posted by imayb1 Regarding the CNH, I have seen mages put together choosing one "dark gift" and one balancing "dark price" at each level-- or every even level (?). The only problem with playing a character made that way is that they would positively stink of evil by level 6. I think dark gifts and dark prices are best left on a case-by-case basis rather than given across the board. Maybe something like a small chance (spell level/2 % maybe?) to gain the attention of a dark patron whenever you cast black necromancy or gray necromancy for an evil purpose. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : raistlinrox Date : 02-19-04 03:11 AM Thread Title : necromancer's handbook Even if you DID want the necromancer's handbook, isn't it or wasn't it at one point available for a free download on this site?? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : SnowbearK Date : 02-19-04 06:03 AM The .exe download for the CNH inserts it and the necessary components into the AD&D Core Rules program. It is in fact STILL available as a download. HERE (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/ex20020218a) It was never available as a free download in .rtf or .pdf format from WotC. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Olli Date : 02-21-04 09:45 AM i would like to direct you to the "complete wizard´s spell compendium vol 1-4" for ad&d second edition. it contains almost every necromancyspell for 1st and 2nd edition (including the spells from the cnh). they may be expensive, but they are one of the best resources for 2nd edition (Imho). hope that helps a little. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:19 AM.
