I figured I'd start a thread to see how Mystara fans here would choose to build Bargle as a 4E NPC. What level would you make him? What powers would he have?

I think he'd work best in the Paragon tier, so maybe 15th level. I'd give him powers related to charms and blasting. I think he needs a cool staff.

What do you folks think?

When I have a sample ready I'll post something here.

Hi. I'm interested to see what you come up with. Personally, I see Bargle as someone for low level characters to come up against first and foremost and then have him as a recurring villain throughout their careers. I'm using the Bargle as noted on the Wizards site (just search for Bargle and you'll find the article). Your 15th level version might well be something I'll appropriate to use later on in the campaign I'm just sending the PCs out on...

At his lowest levels I gave him a Selectostaff (book of wondrous inventions) which is a Staff with a springloaded blade...something i thought was more his style - at least until he gained power and Magic items.

At later levels I think he is more the fancy cane of weaponry kind of guy - (a fine cane in keeping with his status but with a permanent magic sword* enchantment (which allows the user to create and wield wigh his mind a sword of pure magic)

*magic sword being a 1989 D&D spell common to the Mystara setting.
