Sarta -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Algolei Date : 03-12-04 02:12 AM I'm guessin' they played 1E AD&D or possibly OAD&D. Which would make sense, since it's easier to learn. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Wedge_Hammersteel Date : 03-12-04 07:15 AM Algolei is correct. I should have included that for Endarire's benefit and everyone else. We played 1st edition and visited the Keep on the Borderlands. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Yorlum Date : 03-12-04 07:47 AM Seems kinda unfair that you stick Joe with those three blonde-haired hussies and then make him a Paladin! Will My Little Pony be his mount? Will Jem be a bard? Thats pretty funny actually. OI could just see Wizard Barbie adn Ken the Cleric could be in the Episcopal church ;), earring magic ken could be uh...the uh...illusionist or enchanter. Good idea to get your daughter into it though, jokes aside. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Hiryu Date : 03-12-04 11:10 PM Okay, I REALLY have to ask. What the hell happened? Barbie casted a "Remove Crotch" spell on Ken and then read a Permanency scroll?:smirk: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : nolanjwerner Date : 03-12-04 11:12 PM no, they visited the members of the "Eunuch Maker" kit.q -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Hiryu Date : 03-12-04 11:15 PM Oh, yeah. Wasn't that a guild made up entirely of Dragonlance gnomes? No, those were the Tinker Gnomes that designed devices that were intended for something else but usually ended up doing something along that line. Those were right next to the Unintentional Killers Guild (the largest one) The Eunuch Maker kit was from the complete Priest's Handbook, when they reached 9th level they acquired 1D4+1 castrati singer followers and could make their own after 5th level, though most of them were said to have had accidents. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : The WarOverlord Date : 03-13-04 02:05 AM Originally posted by Yorlum Seems kinda unfair that you stick Joe with those three blonde-haired hussies and then make him a Paladin! Well, granted your daughter is only 8, but still... But their is a difference between Chasity and/or Chaste requirements depending on the Religions. In Egyptian Mythos "purifying the flock" had to do with .....nevermind  Even in some African, Asian, and Indian Cultures Sex is used as a "ritual" for casting powerful spells or "blessing the flock" . So a Paladin that "helps purify" the Blondies is a possibility. (different type of "Showers of blessing" or "holy water" ) In fact a lot of Ancient Brothels were in fact of a "Monastery" type deal. The Clerics of Sune believe in spreading love and beauty. You do know that even in the Forgotten Realms that would mean the Sunnites would be putting a smile on a lot of the flocks faces, yes? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : Magespawn Date : 03-13-04 02:24 AM You could show her how an adventuring party would look like after a fireball hits them ( a bic lighter and all those dolls ) That might peak her interest in the game. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Algolei Date : 03-13-04 04:24 AM [Why do threads starting with "my 8-year-old daughter" so often end up talking about sex?] Perverted old men! :behold: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : boojiesdad Date : 03-24-04 06:28 PM Thread Title : Re: Getting my Daughter Involved in D&D Originally posted by Wedge_Hammersteel She is 8 years old. Well, my oldest daughter will be 8 in July and she's been reading my old Endless Quest books and has expressed an interest in playing. (She especially likes "Return to Brookmere" which is funny since that was my first and favorite as well.) I think I'm going to start a game with her and maybe my six year old. Probaly use the Moldvay rules set. I'm gonna do the same with my two younger ones. I have always believed that D&D as a learning tool is invaluable. math, history, problem solving, reading, cultural geography. It's a shame the narrow minded people attached such a negative stigma to the game and the hobby in general. i would have loved to see the results of a study where gaming was made a part of the curriculum. It started in the 80's and is now institutionalized. That is one of the main reason this genre is never adveritsed. A shame, a real shame. More like the right wing Christain Extremists ie on http://www.co.jyu.fi/~np/gameofsatan/#child has the following comments abot D&D AD&DŽ - The Game of Satan Now T$R claims that their "2nd Edition" doesn't have demons and is not satanic! But that's a lie!!! [Deleted to avoid possible copyright violations with T$R, Inc.] is a so-called "Roleplaying Game" by the new anti-christ, a company called T$R (Tactical $uicides Rules), Inc. This evil game has caused hundreds if not thousands of suicides in USA. Usually an older satan worshipper lures young girls (especially virgins!) and boys (typically 4 to 17 years old) to join an "exciting" roleplaying game session and vile, sodomitic sex acts! The Devil shall take their souls! By the way: we should again start using the capital punishment on the most hardened criminals - like the satanists who practice human sacrifice, or civil servants who escape their duty in our respected Finnish Army! We, finnish men, here in White Finland will all enter military service! But, back to the Game of SatanŽ: The "Dungeon Master", as the satan worshipper calls himself, creates a whole new world for the "players". This imaginary world is extremely violent. The player characters brutally slay thousands of "monsters" and other people, and get often killed themselves in this detailed, realistic ultra-violent combat game!!! Players need to study black magic, occultism, and true names of real demons. The players spend all their money on these "game books", drugs and weapons. After a few "sessions", the players become addicted to the game and become obedient slaves of the satan-worshipping Dungeon Master and the hard drugs the DM is selling to them. In a few months, they can't tell what is real and what is game any more. Is Your Child a Role-Player? Children can be recruited from private or school "playing clubs", where innocent children are taught how to play role-playing games! Do You know what your children does after school?!? You should keep an eye on Your children at all times! The visible signs of an obsessive devotion to role-playing games, occultism and satanism are: Loses interest in other, good hobbies Spends a lot of time with roleplaying games Draws cartoon-like pictures, which present violent mutilations, monsters and violent scenes Draws occult symbols: pentagram, number 666, triangle, swastika etc. Has nightmares Has insomnia Changes diet Writes poems about death and dying Writes about dark themes and supernatural events Talks about many gods Believes to own supernatural powers Speaks in riddles Speaks against Holy Bible Refuses to go to church Grades deteoriate Collects luck charms, animal bones, weapons, dolls etc. Is interested in magic, herbs and other occultism Threatens to kill other people, especially parents Talks about suicide or death. Is unusually interested in everything about death. Neglects personal hygiene Hears voices Obsessive interest in weapons, especially firearms Obsessive interest in half-militant "Ramboism" and interest in war and violence Makes pact with the Devil, or, in some cases, suicide contracts Cuts his/her hands. This is used for blood sacrifices. Has tattoos and "piercing" jewelry Starts believing in "evolution" instead of the one true scientific creationism Talks about "green values" and joins "nature preservation" occult groups Stops eating meat and turns into veganism (pagan religion) Such ridiculous loonatic bablling  -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 20] Author : Sarta Date : 03-28-04 04:10 PM Pretty darn sure that site is a joke. But, you are correct, there are plenty of religious-right people out there who feel that role-playing is evil.
