Let's see ... HW boxed set, WoTI campaign book (I don't mind the Immortal rules from that set), plus, HWA and HWQ series and Milenian, Nithian, Azcan Gazeteers, that's what, a dozen books anyway. So easily more than enough resources to do at least, say, 6 more Gazeteers, my picks: Heldann; Hule; Wendar; Denagoth; Norwold; and an expansion to the Dawn of the Emperors dealing with the colonies, and focussed primarily on the Isle of Dawn. The following is my wishlist for Mystara products that we never got to see: DA 5 City of Blackmoor (May be released soon by Zeigteistgames) Gaz 14 The Knights Heldann Gaz 15 Elves of Wendar Gaz 16 Denagoth Gaz 17 Sind Gaz 18 Hule Gaz 19 Norwold Gaz 20 Isle of Dawn Gaz 21 The Malpheggi Swamp Gaz 22 The Northern Wildlands PC 5 Undead PC 6 Tortle, Lupins and Rakastas Which products would you have liked to see? And which order of preference? Havard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : stanles Date : 03-16-04 01:58 PM I dunno about Malpheggi Swamp being a Gazetteer not being a country and all, but it would be an interesting area so I think a creature cruicible could have be worked out for it, focussing on lizard men and other such things perhaps. 14, 15 and 17 had already been on the cards. Though I admit that I would have liked to seen something on Hule. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : crash_beedo Date : 03-16-04 02:09 PM I like Havard's choices... those would have been good. One thing missing might have been a "Continents of Mystara" boxed set - I guess to a small extent VotPA and Champions of Mystara tried to cover other areas of the world - Eastern Davania and Western Brun. As it is, there's nothing really 'canon' for the rest of Davania or Skothar. That 'continent map' that is wrong-wrong-wrong needed to be updated to reflect the findings of the Princess Ark, and then build out the uncharted areas. I know a lot of people over on the Vaults did come up with their own interpretations of those continents, but I have a hard time figuring out where this empire, or that kingdom, should sit on the big continent maps... Incidentally - I only recently read the whole VotPA series as part of rediscovering Mystara in advance of our next campaign - I am absolutely blown away by the work Bruce did on the setting for those years when TSR was moving away from OD&D. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : stanles Date : 03-16-04 02:31 PM Originally posted by crash_beedo I know a lot of people over on the Vaults did come up with their own interpretations of those continents, but I have a hard time figuring out where this empire, or that kingdom, should sit on the big continent maps... yeah I've been wanting to try and fix that up for a while now. But to do so in a way that isn't too graphics intensive. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : rogueattorney Date : 03-16-04 02:31 PM The Vaults of Pandius had an interview with, or email from, Bruce Heard that contained a list of future Mystara projects from an internal memo or a proposed announcement of some sort. These were all cancelled with the decision to change Mystara to 2e. I wish I could dredge it up again. Help anyone? Anyway, it had a number of Gazetteers that were the likely suspects - Wendar, Heldann, Sind, Hule There were a number of city projects, although I don't recall which cities - you'd think Thyatis and Glantri would be the logical ones. There was also a few Blackmoor resources, although it wasn't clear if these were set in the distant past or contemporary with the established time line. I'll do another search and see if I can't dredge up the link. R.A. the page that that file and a number of other interesting stuff is dnd.starflung.com/pastfutu.html and it's linked on the Vaults from ... erm ... nowhere. It dropped off the index page a while ago and I seem to have forgotten about it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : rogueattorney Date : 03-16-04 02:58 PM That's the one, Shawn. Thanks ever so much! The specific document I was talking about is here: http://dnd.starflung.com/refguide.html The future products list is all the way to the bottom. You know, when they were still freeholds. With no knights. Is anyone writing down all our requests? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : crash_beedo Date : 03-16-04 04:58 PM Originally posted by stanles yeah I've been wanting to try and fix that up for a while now. But to do so in a way that isn't too graphics intensive. I can say that would be most useful - nay, highly anticipated! Something like the old 'wrong-wrong-wrong' continents map with dotted lines for the 'territories' and a key linking to the work various people have done on the Vaults. I know I'll be using Vaults material a lot for areas like Norwold, where its much easier to place the new material, but its much harder for Davania and Skothar. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Hugin Date : 03-16-04 07:02 PM the old 'wrong-wrong-wrong' continents map I'm feeling a bit like a newb, but which one(s). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : Edgewaters Date : 03-16-04 07:30 PM The one on the inside cover of the Masters' book (from becm OD&D) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Hugin Date : 03-16-04 07:44 PM Edit - Duplication of below! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : crash_beedo Date : 03-16-04 07:52 PM Yeah, when I saw that, I figured they would ultimately sketch out the other parts of the world (I'm referring to the map on the cover of the Mentzer 'Master's' book). Then I finally read the Bruce Heard VotPA series (which starts with him labelling that map 'wrong-wrong-wrong') - and then he promptly sets about to re-inventing some of those areas. Not complaining... I greatly enjoyed VotPA - I wish I was following Mystara back then. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : Hugin Date : 03-16-04 07:59 PM Thanks Edge. Unfortunately, I never got the Masters rulebook way back when. For a chuckle; when I first started playing D&D all we had was a copy of the expert book! It was rather interesting trying to figure out how to play!!! :twitch: In regards to the map and Vaults, good idea, I get unsure where places are too. Alot of would really appreciate one, Shawn, as it sounds like most all of us use the Vaults (I know I do). As for the topic, and this might make some of you laugh but, an Exhaustive Monstrous Atlas! I've always tried to make notes on the natural ranges of each creature. Long before I have a computer I tried to do this but it was really hard. But now I've created a database with each creature that appears on Mystara and in which terrains. Using the filters I can print a report on a country or region and it lists them, categorized by terrain. I used all the Gazetteers and Almanacs, and all the adventures that I have, for the information, then extrapolated. It took a long time, and still isn't 100% complete, but it adds alot to my campaigns. If only TSR had made one with all the extra neat stuff they come up with. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 17] Author : Edgewaters Date : 03-16-04 09:33 PM Originally posted by Hugin I've always tried to make notes on the natural ranges of each creature. I guess so! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 18] Author : tjedge1 Date : 03-16-04 10:07 PM Anyway we could get our hands on that Database. I'm very interested in it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 19] Author : Hugin Date : 03-16-04 10:21 PM Just sent me an email and I'll reply with it. It's just Microsoft Database and certainly not professionally done. The country/region fields are shortened to just 3 or 4 letters but go from west to east. Once you get it, if you have questions just email. (I would also ask that nobody pass it off as their own - alot of hours went into it) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:25 AM.
