Tired of 3e trolls having nothing to do but spoiling your discussions here on the OOP forum of Wotc ? Tired of feeling out of place in your "own" environment ? Tired of being in a non-moderated forum where junk is spilled here and there by flamers ? THIS IS FOR YOU !!! Come to REAL out-of-print AD&D and D&D forums !! And I don't speak of that 3.0 out-of-print thing of course! Here's 2 links : Dragonsfoot: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/index.php More than a forum, you can download a lot of modules and stuff designed for 1st edition. People are constantly contributing to add to their library of material. As you'll see, 1st ed AD&D is still alive and kicking! The forum host 1st ed AD&D, 2nd ed AD&D and classic D&D, along with LA, the system of a welcome guest, the creator of AD&D himself ! Grognard's Tavern: http://grognardstavern.proboards29.com/ This forum is mainly for the 1st edition AD&D of Gary Gygax but also for classic D&D. Their members are pure grognards and holds the ancient lore of AD&D and old D&D. You want to go back to the roots and learn what is the original AD&D ? Come and see. Knowledge awaits! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Halaster-Blackcloak Date : 04-05-04 05:14 AM Thanks! I didn't know about the Grognard's Tavern! I'd like to add another great site: Mortality.net (http://www.mortality.net/board/) While we're friendly to all editions, there are NO edition wars or edition slamming allowed, and trolls are disintegrated on contact. :smirk: We have a large OOP section there which focuses on 1E and 2E, and we're hosting the Back In Print Project, which is a 2E revival. Any other good 3E troll free OOP sources, anyone? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Hiryu Date : 04-05-04 03:48 PM I am kind of turned off by experience with DF. The 2ed board is sloooooooowwww. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : WizO_Paradox Date : 04-05-04 11:36 PM *Arches an eyebrow* There's nothing wrong with these forums. If three are any problems feel free to report problem posts to the moderators. (This board IS moderated. I don't know where that "No moderators" is coming from.) I just take exception when someone feels the need to tear down one board to "sell" their own. Especially this one. (The rule applies to other boards as well. I've shut down threads slaming other forums, and there is no need for any board wars at all.) One more piece of free advice: The first thing I thought when I read your post was "Gee, he's actually challanging the trolls to go to those sites." I suggest putting a link in your sig and not trying to make it an invitation to the trolls. They DO migrate, you know. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Hiryu Date : 04-06-04 12:16 AM At least now I can see a mod showing up around here, posting and closing problematic threads, Paradox. The reason people think this boards are not moderated is because we rarely ever get to see anything remotely similar to that. I swear, up until a couple weeks ago I thought WizO_Jedi was an urban legend. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : WizO_Paradox Date : 04-06-04 12:28 AM People have to understand there's NO WAY anyone can read each and every post on every board. Jedi's got other boards to worry about in addition to this one. WizOs are only on for 4 hours per week. Has anyone used the report a thread to moderator function? It's there for a reason. You can help us help you. If nobody's reporting anything, then we can only assume there's no problems. (And problems don't automatically show up in thread titles.) Thanks. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : diaglo Date : 04-07-04 12:27 PM Originally posted by WizO_Paradox Has anyone used the report a thread to moderator function? Especially this one. Aside from that, IMO, it's just a tad rude to spam other forums to promote your own. Now, it will probably be noticed by some folks that I have in the past, quite a bit in fact, promoted the greyhawk fansite I help run here (well, in the greyhawk forum here), but I think there's a difference. I/We point out specific things on our site that may be of interest to folks here. If Drexlorn had said, for example "Hey, check out the 1e AD&D adventures section on Dragonsfoot" (which, I might add, is quite good) and given a URL, no harm done! These generic advertisements just seem a little tacky to me. Where Paradox says he read "trolls, come hither!" into the intent of the post, my first impression was that of "hey, this forum and these wizo goons suck, come check out these other places!". That probably wasn't the intent of the post, but that's how it struck me. I guess what I'm saying is, if you want to promote your site or forum, let us know about some of the cool things, relevant to the topic here, that we might enjoy there. And being polite and even asking the permission of the resident wizo can't hurt either. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:21 AM.
