Long before Magic the Gathering was even thought of, I thought it would be neat to take a card from the monster deck, (made from monster cards) fight a hero from a character deck (from characters) for a treasure (from the treasure cards.) I've even made good use of those cards. Many of the old D&D avatars you can select from are scans of those cards. I still have the Dragon magazines they made their first appearance in too. Still uncut. Woot! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : SnowbearK Date : 04-06-04 12:52 AM Bragging doesn't become you, Dox. ;) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : WizO_Paradox Date : 04-06-04 10:18 PM Gee, only trying to start a conversation. :( -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Kuje31 Date : 04-06-04 10:35 PM I have many of the factory sets as well and they are great to use for NPC's and items. :) Some of the sets I didn't manage to finish though... :( -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Incenjucar Date : 04-06-04 11:39 PM I have a few of those myself, albeit not that many, and not on hand. I recall a dracotaur sort of thing, an old man who went from baker to druid later in life, a young mage whom halfling women think is cute, and a necklace of missiles that was cursed, but used to good effect by its owner by daring her captors to hurl them at her. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Lost_and_Damned Date : 04-07-04 06:55 AM Thread Title : Re: TSR Trading Cards Originally posted by WizO_Paradox I still have the Dragon magazines they made their first appearance in too. Woot! me too i hate the Dragonlance prototypes though, as for sets, i have an assortment from one year but not all of them about 50 or so:( -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : diaglo Date : 04-07-04 12:31 PM Dungeon also had some cards thrown in. i sold my trading cards a couple years ago. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : SnowbearK Date : 04-09-04 12:33 AM Originally posted by WizO_Paradox Gee, only trying to start a conversation. :( Aw Dox, I's jestin' wit' ya! :D I loved those cards myself...lost almost all of mine in the Great RPG Conflagration of '97 though. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Lord Crimson Date : 04-09-04 03:19 AM I only have the original -- what was it, 1991 set? along with a handful of the following set. Some of it was quite fascinating. Stats on PCs that I couldn't find stats on and so forth. Some of it was useful: Stats for monsters that I didn't have the proper monstrous compendium appendix for. Unfortunately, half the art was terrible cheaply done stuff that was used for only two things that I know if: illustrating the NPCs in the old 2nd Ed. Rogues Gallery supplement and filling out space in those collector cards. It was rather unfortunate. My LEAST favorite was Chobin the Punkster, a Greyhawk NPC wizard that had a mohawk. It was more than a little lame in my mind. But some of it was really useful. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Lost_and_Damned Date : 04-11-04 12:28 PM Originally posted by diaglo Dungeon also had some cards thrown in. hey Diaglo, which issues? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : realmaster Date : 04-12-04 02:34 AM I have all 3 of the complete factory sets still in the boxes but unfortunately I have about 5 cards collectively from the three sets that need replacing because of factory defects. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Morhawke Date : 04-12-04 03:04 AM Ive a couple of these sets only the last one to come out is incomplete I believe. A friend of mine took a plastic case that held 10 or so baseball cards, and blocked out the area on the front to hide the name of the creature/person/item on the cards, then used to pass them around as a visual aid when we ran into something in his game. was rather cleaver and a good use of these. What I want to get ahold of again (as saddly mine were destroyed) is the original 4 sets of D&D cards that were put out in the early 80s I believe (maybe late 70s) cant seem to remember off the top of my head. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : realmaster Date : 04-12-04 03:27 AM Are you talking about the monster cards sets? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Retquarkn Date : 04-12-04 04:46 AM I remember those cards quite well.. I still have the factory boxed set from 93. Chocked full of Greyhawk, FR, Ravenloft, Dark Sun Spelljammer and Dragonlance. Think you Wizo's could sweet talk the WotC guys into looking into a revival of such things? They love collectable card merchendise yet D&D is barren of it for whatever reason. Dont forget the Box Sets at the end of the season. Nowadays a box of the seasons 200+ cards could easily fetch 50 smackers from an american customer as they used to be anywhere from 25 to 30. Cha-Ching! Add in some flashy gold foil signature cards and art on par with the core rule book art or atleast good enough for Chainmail. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : SamualT Barronsword Date : 04-12-04 10:49 AM Originally posted by Lost_and_Damned hey Diaglo, which issues?
