This is off the wall a bit, but if you haven't noticed, I've been working on a VG mod of Mystara. Someone made some really cool Panda type units and I was wondering if there are any Panda Sub-Races out there in any world of D&D? LIke the Rakasta are to cats and the Tortles are to turtles. Lupins to dogs, etc. If so could someone set up a link or description of them so that maybe I could use them in the game.:behold: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : katana_one Date : 04-08-04 01:17 PM Panda sub-races in Mystara? Did I miss something? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Lost Woodrake Date : 04-08-04 01:31 PM Sorry - but I can't think of anything. Maybe they could be the Oriental variation of werebears? In cultures such as Ochalea and the like. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : WizO_Drake Date : 04-08-04 02:43 PM Warcraft has some sort of humanoid panda race. I believe it's in their monster book, as well as their Horde Compendium. Sorry, can't remember exact names at the moment. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : tjedge1 Date : 04-08-04 05:44 PM That's what I was afraid of. The idea of a werebear type would be useful though. Could work. Thanks guys. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Morphius Shadowleaf Date : 04-09-04 01:26 AM Originally posted by Lost Woodrake Sorry - but I can't think of anything. Awesome idea. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Lost Woodrake Date : 04-09-04 06:21 AM Thanks, Morphius. One last thought: Considering the temperament of Panda Bears - maybe this is a lycanthropy which is specific to mystics? Think of the potential of a whole Ochalean mystic cloister of werepandas! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : tjedge1 Date : 04-09-04 07:03 AM That is a great idea. I think, not only will I try to use this in my VG mod, but I think I will use this in my campaign. Suddenly there's an outbreak of a new lycanthropy maybe induced through alchemy and now it spreads outside of Ochalea. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 04-28-04 10:40 PM Just noticed this thread (reregistered here after a long absence). On the topic of Panda subraces, an idea that I used is to have a subrace of Bugbears that has panda-like features and is native to Ochalea (with Monk as their favored class). Don't recall if I've done a writeup 3rd edition style or not, but there is a Bugbear on my Twilight of the Dawn page (http://www.geocities.com/isledawn), as well as a "sample" panda-bugbear character on the mini-gazetteer of the Great Crater I wrote a long time ago (http://www.angelfire.com/ca3/cthulhudrew/mystara.html) Just some further ideas for you. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : havard Date : 04-29-04 07:32 AM Cthulhudrew wrote: Don't recall if I've done a writeup 3rd edition style or not, but there is a Bugbear on my Twilight of the Dawn page (http://www.geocities.com/isledawn) Andrew, I never explored this website before, it is actually really good! Lots of stuff here that I have been looking for a long time. And yeah, it looks 3e to me. :) However: Physical Description: A bugbear looks like a furry human with the head of a cat. Its short fur is usually soft and ranges in color from light tan to dark brown. Many bugbear have a darker hue on the ears and muzzle. Some specimens have white highlights and the ears and muzzle instead or even white or dark patches at the extremities (feet, hands, and tail). Older bugbear show whitening around the face and ears. Bugbear have non-prehensile tails between two and four feet long; rarely, a bugbear may have no tail at all. Bugbear are very proud of their tails and spend a great deal of time each day grooming them. This doesn't seem right. In fact, the description is almost identical to the one on Rakasta. Indeed. It is taken directly from the physical description of the Rakasta. The word "rakasta" was replaced with "bugbear." -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 04-29-04 04:56 PM Havard said: This doesn't seem right. Yeah- I originally copied the Rakasta entry so that I would have the format right, and meant to go back and edit the whole thing. Sorry about that! (Feeling sheepish) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : havard Date : 04-29-04 05:26 PM Originally posted by Cthulhudrew D'OH! Sorry about that! (Feeling sheepish) Ah, dont worry about it. I figured that was the case, I do the same myself when I create stuff. Let us know when you've got a revised version though! :) Havard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:23 AM.
