Hi all, well I know solo play is not how D&D was designed and it is difficult to get a game going, I have a couple friends but I want to play whenever I can, not get together every 2 months, as is the case w/ a campaign that was started w/ a buddy from out of town. So with the solo rules/random encounters/treasure matrices (plural of matrix?) from DM Guide I found/created a pretty decent method of solo play (it's better than nothing). 1. Using only a module map/dungeon (and lead figure) use the DMG rules for randomness, roll every other turn for wand. monsters, roll for traps/pits (I'm tough on my character so 75% chance of falling), rolling a 1 on a 1d8 will decide if he searches for secret doors when he is upon one on the map, also using wandering monster chart from a deeper level. I try to keep it as random and difficult as possible to try and make up for any favoritism I unconsciously may be leaning on. 2. Using a module as is and working out the kinks....... This is not ideal, but it's fun and relaxing....any ideas or tips to make this more exciting???? Thanks!!!!!!!!! :embarrass :embarrass :embarrass :embarrass :embarrass -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : beavis123 Date : 04-17-04 03:41 PM Thread Title : as long as As long as you are having fun....enjoy. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 04-17-04 04:08 PM :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Stonebeard Date : 04-17-04 09:18 PM What version? In the back of the 1e DMG there is a sytem for solo play. Gets rather boring after a while but its there. if This is for 2e you must be doing something right cause it seems your having fun. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 04-17-04 10:41 PM 1st Ed. I keep it interesting by using Fiend Folio, MM2, as well as core books. Mix it up, keeping wilderness encounters is totally random......was resting outside under some trees w. my warhorse, near death from 2 bugbears, all of a sudden a trader comes along and I get food, blankets, water, wine and rest!!!! Better than a nasty monster!! Things like that make it interesting:angel: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:20 AM.
