I played Myth Dramnor, Underdark, Baldur's Gate and I enjoyed them all immensly. Anyone else who enjoyed 2ND Edition please reach ?? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-05-04 02:16 PM So wait, are you saying you played the 2e RPG or the 2e video games? Because there is a huge difference between the two. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : GreyLord Date : 05-05-04 03:18 PM Overall, it doesn't matter as the same can apply to the Videogames as well. In Videogames, I actually enjoyed the 2e edition video games immensely such as IWD, BG, BG:TOSC, BGII:SoA, BGII:ToB, PS:T. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-05-04 03:21 PM Well, one is a role playing game and the other is a video game. I dislike the D&D video games games (To me, trying to make a video game of D&D is pretty pointless, like trying to capture the feel of football by having the players play baseball. Apples and oranges.). Now if we are praising the role playing games, then right on. I love 2e. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : DangerMan Date : 05-05-04 03:50 PM I got a lot of time in on 2nd edition, and I loved it all. Give me a wild mage anyday. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Elendur Date : 05-05-04 04:47 PM Some of the 2e settings were fantastic (like Dark Sun) but the 2e player's handbook was utter crap. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : radwizard Date : 05-05-04 05:22 PM Thread Title : Re: Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition Appreciation Originally posted by Divine Skillz Im a big big big fan of AD&D 2nd Edition. Yep, I'm a big 2E fan, thats why I don't post over here very often. ;) I've been either a DM or a player in a 2E game since the edition came out, and I don't have any reason or desire to advance to a new edition. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : vader42xx Date : 05-06-04 03:06 AM I've played D&D for about 18 years, about 10 of those years were spent playing nothing but 2nd edition. I was one of those who made the switch to 3e (figured why not, alot of the same creative minds are still in on the project). Right now, I'm in the process of picking up all the 2nd edition material I can and selling my 3e stuff to finance it. Nothing wrong with 3e for those who like D2 and NWN but that's just not my style. I liked it when you needed the party and if you got lost or seperated from them you knew you were in for a world of trouble. Not to mention when the DM had some contol over the game without having to actually say, sorry, I know it's in the book but I changed it. THAT is what makes for ****** players, not the 2nd edition DM calls that we all know and love. Anyway, I don't wan to turn this into a flame war (3e is just as good a game for those who enjoy it). Just wanted to state my experiences with 3e and why I like 2nd edition SO much better! :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Algolei Date : 05-06-04 03:47 AM I love the Player's Options books. 2E gave me the inspiration I needed to break the D&D rules down and reconstruct them to see how they work. Kinda like the time I did that to the tv, but without all the yelling and spanking and grounding. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Divine Skillz Date : 05-06-04 04:10 AM Thread Title : The Pen and Paper Version Im praising the pen and paper game. Ive played for eight years and Ive enjoyed every game. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-06-04 12:54 PM Second edition wil always have a place in my heart. it was my first RPG. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : RobertFisher Date : 05-06-04 02:43 PM Originally posted by Algolei Kinda like the time I did that to the tv, but without all the yelling and spanking and grounding. :heehee I know exactly what you mean... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : realmaster Date : 05-06-04 04:50 PM I have been playing AD&D since 1980 and it is my first love when it comes to what version of role playing system to play. Originally posted by GreyLord I actually enjoyed the 2e edition video games immensely such as IWD, IWD:HoW, IWDII, BG, BG:TOSC, BGII:SoA, BGII:ToB,. BTW I enjoy these games also. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Agamemnon, Tiefer Date : 05-07-04 10:42 AM Thread Title : Re: The Pen and Paper Version Originally posted by Divine Skillz Im praising the pen and paper game. Ive played for eight years and Ive enjoyed every game. I concur!! I also cast my lot in with the Planescape setting. I found that setting to gel easiest with the occassional visitation to other settings such as SpellJammer & Ravenloft. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : MinorBassLine Date : 05-11-04 08:57 PM I have played mostly 3.0 and next semester at school i'm joining a 2.0 game. I have looked at the books and read them, and i love it even before playing it. I just need to find a hard copy of the 2.0 PHB. Anyone know of a site, other than an auction site(ebay etc.) that i can pick one up at? Or any place? I've checked used bookstores, RPG stores. Any advice is good advice -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : vader42xx Date : 05-12-04 02:39 AM You can download it from stores like www.rpgnow.com for about $5. If you add in the cost to print it then it's about the same that you'd get it for in a use RPG shop. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 17] Author : Zulgyan Date : 05-14-04 09:49 PM the BEST 2nd edition, is the one that is just-throught-the-core-books. I would only accept "tome of magic" spells, but very other add on, just spoilt the game, specialy skills and power. Criticals were a great adition too. Obiusly you would need every MM out there and ENcyclopedia MAgica was awesome. Kits and those stuff stinked 2nd had much better flavor. 3rd edition is overall a better game due to mechanics, but i have made some modifications so as to still have an 2nd edition feel -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 18] Author : Halaster-Blackcloak Date : 05-15-04 12:35 AM I'm a fanatical 2E fan .:smirk: I'm working on a revival project of sorts over at Mortality. Slow going, and we changed the concept a bit. I'm still looking for artists, so if there are any artists here looking to do some work for the project, LMK. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 19] Author : Master of Keys Date : 05-19-04 03:53 PM I was raised on second ed. The best roleplaying system I've ever tried. My group and I still come back to it regularly after we get bored/frustrated/angered over everything else. Of everything I've tried, only 2nd Ed. has had the flavor I expect from a roleplaying game. 3rd edition is overall a better game due to mechanics, but i have made some modifications so as to still have an 2nd edition feel Given that, I am interested in hearing from Zulgyan how these modifications work. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:20 AM.
