The PHB is very vague on what happens with proficiencies when you start over. It mentions that you can't use old proficiencies, so does that mean you get a whole new batch of proficiencies as if you were starting over. Or do you keep the same proficiencies until you advance past your first class, then do you gain new ones. I maybe rambling and confused, but it makes sense to me. I just don't quite understand how they work. Thanks ahead of time. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 05-06-04 09:07 PM The rules state that you can't use any of the abilities of your former class. NWP's aren't abilities of any particular class really, since you can take any NWP's from any place (granted, there is a penalty on some of them). WP's are a stickier subject though. Some would be rather obvious I think (specialization for example, or fighting styles). Some aren't (ambidexterity for example). Those are probably going to be up to your DM's interpetation. If you talk to several players who have DM'd, you'll probably get a whole range of answers to this question. All of them are right, since the DM is the final word on what the rules mean. The only word you should be worried about is your current DM's. The next DM might have a whole new spin on things. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-07-04 12:08 AM You are treated in all other ways as a 1st level chracter, so you recieve weapon and non-weapon profs just like one (Of whatever your new class is.), and you gain them at the appropriate rate for your new class. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Pygmy Date : 05-07-04 12:25 AM Thanks to everyone for clarifying this for me. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:20 AM.
